I firmly believe our struggles Thursday night were as a direct result of the tough, physical game we played last Sunday. We honestly didn't have a huge chance of success given the short week and how shell shocked Brees was after the two pick 6s. Brees looked like he was forcing every pass, rushing every drive. I know the Giants are a tough team, but I think we start our 4 game win streak one week from today. I think this weekend will e huge for us to calm down and collect ourselves. We have absolutely got to get back to the run and I think the Giants will be a good team to get right against. You know Spags won't mind dialing up something a little extra special for his old team.
I don't know whether or not we make it in at 9-7, but were not out of it just yet

I'm starting to think we should elect to receive.
Score points early.
That way, we won't have to play from behind and Drew won't go full retard.

only one of the pick 6's was his fault really. We win that game if that ball hits off colston's hands and goes even a slightly different direction, or if he catches it obviously, or even doesnt touch it at all. after that play I was just like, why cant one of my teams just catch a fricking break this season.

Well the Saints have won the last three with ease so it's possible they could win. The D is playing better and if the Saints will run the ball and not abandon it the first time someone gets stopped for no gain, then maybe they can pull out the upset.

This is one of the most frustrating things to see. After running it so well to get us back to .500, we just absolutely fell apart and forgot how to do so. It infuriates me when Pierre is running for 10 yards a pop and the next drive we come out in 4 or 5 wide and then PA.

Giants give up huge gains in the passing game, which spells an advantage for our offense. Except this season we have been in this situation before, where teams have been depleted in the secondary and we weren't able to take advantage in the passing game.

The Giants rush the passer well, and have extremely athletic D-Linemen. We absolutely suck against speed rushers, and Drew has been awful when facing pressure this season. Terrible completion percentage, horrible decisions leading to int's, sacks/fumbles.

Giants have been running the ball well lately, and are more committed to it. We still kinda suck against the run.

I am optimistic and have hope, but we just can't afford any bonehead plays or brain farts in this one. We have some advantages and disadvantages so it should be a close one, and we can't put ourselves in a hole and hurt our chances. I hope we try to protect Drew more, run the ball more, and don't miss tons of tackles against the run.

You guys win as the Giants lose the next two and everyone says they have no chance and then become dominate in the playoffs and....

Just makes me mad they pull the same shite every year

Care to elaborate? I don't think so. You can't tell me Brees didn't look like he was pressing. It's like he was trying to atone for those pick 6s with every single pass. But instead he forced balls all game. Carmichael is also to blame here. As soon as the run game starts slowing down, he immediately goes to shotgun and all passing. The most frustrating thing is still trying to PA off of a non-existent run game.

So yes, I think it's a valid excuse.

do we really know this? the guy is an nfl qb. do you think those were the first pick sixes he has ever thrown?

he has been pressing all year. he throws into triple coverage to graham like its his job.

i agree. we started running the ball successfully and then we go 5 wide balls to the wall....5 ints....shite we lost

we have had the Giants number lately.

it was nice seeing the defense forcing ATL to go 1-for-11 in third down situations.

just have to cut out the turnovers. Unlike ATL, if we turn the ball over a ton against the Giants it could get real ugly.

I don't think that we will ever see a bad game like that from Brees again.

Hopefully the pass protection will be able to hold up better. And hopefully we will stick with the ground game. I think one reason we got away from it the other night is because we were chewing up time and not putting points on the board. I mean a field goal is better than nothing but at some point you have to start taking your shots down the field too. We did that but there were some dropped passes too.

Totally disagree here. I could see your point if we were coming off a game against some softer team like the Rams. Also if the game were a Sunday following a Monday game. But 3 days rest from the 49ers game to another division leader? It was obvious we couldn't get back in 3 days. Mostly because we didn't even resemble the Saints team I've watched the last 6 years. They were ineffective in the passing game, guys dropping passes, Brees throws were rushed and off, the line was terrible, we mismanaged the clock and our timeouts, had delay of games (which we never have) and couldn't get get our plays in on time. That wasn't the Saints that played on Thursday.

Well they were the better team. I don't have any for that game. We were at home, they were coming off a short week and still beat us. My only thought on that game was that we matchup terribly with San Fran, have for the last 6 years or so when we play. I remember a bad 49er team that we needed a last second score to beat a couple years ago.

The SF game and short week were big concerns to me going into the week. I think that may have contributed to our slow start on defense. Who wants to tackle/hit a 225 lbs running back as hard as you can when you are banged up and sore from four days earlier.

Thursday night games suck!
