I just want the Saints to win!!!

We only get 16 games a year, I want my favorite team to win as many as possible.

I don't see how drafting #8 or #18 is going to make a huge difference for our franchise.

I think more "fans" are more obsessed with the NFL Draft than the actual season, and these posts on pages 1 and 2 are proof.

The whole point of the Draft is to improve your team with playmakers who can win games, and in December, with a playoff berth still possible, so-called fans want the Saints to lose? Those are not real Saints fans, those are fans who are obsessed with the NFL Draft and its process. Speaking about that process, it is neat, but shouldn't be valued over actual football games.

Erin Hogan, talk show host for 104-9 The Horn in Austin, once said his favorite NFL Weekend was the Divisional Round of the playoffs, which I agree with. His second favorite weekend? The NFL Draft. Get the f*ck out of here.

If you want the Saints to lose so we can get a higher draft pick, don't say you are a Saints fan, say you are a fan of the NFL Draft and it's neat process of team's front office decision making, seeing the families get excited, and watching a college football players life change in the matter of minutes. It's a neat experience, the draft, but it doesn't top an actual football game for me. I'd rather watch the Saints trail by 10, then watch Drew Brees do his thing and lead the Saints to a 21 point swing, then watch two teams trade touchdowns until the Saints finally win 48-41. That is more satisfying to me, a football fan. For some, the best part of football happens in late April.

ok so you root for the dumpster fire of a team to keep winning, and i will root for them to lose so yes they can move up and land a game changing type player!

Your prerogative.

Maybe... just maybe hit on a game changing player. I never hope they lose.

when there is absolutely no chance of making the playoffs, and a win actually hurts them in the off season then yes i will root for them to lose cause yes in the long run there isn't much difference in a 7 win season and a 8 win season

I mean vic Beasley was a top 10 pick and marcus Peters was what the 18th? Yet both have been damn good.

Eric Kendricks was a 2nd rounder. Danielle Hunter was a 3rd rounder. David Johnson was a 3rd rounder. Michael Thomas was a 2nd rounder.

It'd be nice to get a top 10 pick, I agree with that thought, but it's not like we can't get quality players if saints go 8-8

Agreed. Until the Saints are ONE HUNDRED% out of the playoff race I don't see how you root for them to lose and tank. For who? And better yet, for what? Teams that know how to draft will have success whether they draft top 10 or bottom 5. This years 1st round seems to be pretty deep and will be loaded with talent. So whether we pick 8th or 18th, as long as we scout correctly and don't whiff on the pick, we should add a very good-great player to our team.

and GEAUX VIQUEENS!

Well there actually is a chance. Not a good one but there's a chance. And there's also no difference between the 8th pick and the 18th. What round was Brees and Brady drafted in again?

Unless you think drafting higher isn't really an advantage, this doesn't really make sense.

Or, are you saying you'd never trade 2 next year (assuming improvement as a result of higher draft picks) for 2 wins this year? I'd have to disagree given that we are in contention for a playoff spot.

That’s nice & all but Peters would have been a top 10 possibly top 5 pick had he not had character questions surrounding him.

Eric Kendricks was a 2nd rounder

Should have been a 1st round pick. He had the physical measurables, stats & film of a 1st rounder. The Saints must have had Stephone Anthony rated higher on their board than Kendricks & that's why they pick Anthony over him. They dropped the ball there.

quote:

Danielle Hunter was a 3rd rounder.

Despite the physical measurables, Hunter didn't have the sack numbers at LSU to justify him being a higher draft pick. The TFL numbers were there but not the sacks. Mike Zimmer deserves credit for seeing his potential & then getting Hunter to maximize his potential. I'm not sure if Hunter is as productive as he has been with the Vikings if he is drafted elsewhere.

quote:

David Johnson was a 3rd rounder.

Northern Iowa. Despite his Senior Bowl showing & combine numbers, NFL teams are always weary of players who play at smaller colleges especially backs. They always worry that the numbers put up are a result of the competition level. Had Johnson played at a Power 5 school, he probably would have been a late first rounder.

quote:

Michael Thomas was a 2nd rounder.

He didn't have the eye popping stats in terms of yardage in 2015 at Ohio St due to large part to the struggles of Cardale Jones & JT Barrett as passers. If Thomas had 1000+ yards to go with his 9 TDs, probably sneaks into the 1st round.

The 1st round is the round that has produced the most players in the Hall of Fame. Out of the 109 NFL Hall of Famers who were selected in the 1st round, 82 of them were selected in the top 10. The numbers say that during the entire history of the NFL, your game changing players mostly are drafted in the top 10 of the NFL Draft.

What an incredibly short sited and stupid opinion. If you want the Saints to win pointless games that hurt their chances to improve the team for the future then you're the one who is not the real Saints fan.

This is like the people who said "you're not an LSU fan if you want them to lose" before the A&M game both this year and last year and look where those wins got us. One made us completely waste a season by keeping Les and the other got us Ed Orgeron as the head coach. Well the people who wanted LSU to lose were right.

He wants his cake and to eat it too. He is the same person who wants to win now and then will complain about how we always seem to draft poorly later after we lock in that mid round pick.

its tricky for sure.

anytime you are picking in the mid 1st round (like we usually are) a good player can slide due to other teams taking players at positions they need.

I just hope we don't reach for somebody is all.

and we might address needs in free agency before the draft. There is no way to tell.

that's one of the reasons I don't give a crap if we don't TANK.

too many unknowns between now and fricking April you know?

There's an argument that can be made in every draft for players bring a certain grade and 'falling'.

Landry was a 2nd rounder.

Bell was a 2nd rounder.

Kj Wright was a 4th rounder.

Dak was a 4th rounder.

Kwon and debo went what 3rd/4th?

Foster went undrafted

If there was a definitive measure of draft accuracy, than you'd see every quality player drafted properly.

The ability to grab more "surefire/quality" guys in the top 10 great, but good scouting and drafting can get around that.
