How many more years will Brees play?

a little survey, give the number of more years simply.
Start...
I'm going 5 more years to age 41. The dude keeps in fantastic condition. Barring a career ending type injury I think he goes until he cannot anymore or go out with another ring.
News of Payton negotiating an extension makes this all the more likely.
Considering some of the free agent QBs available as projects under Payton is what made me consider this. In today's NFL honing an replacement to step in is harder than ever. QBs tie up so much cap space ya cannot afford to develop one past their rookie contract. Osweiler is a perfect example. This guy with 7 starts in 4 years is gonna get a midrange QB deal.

I would be shocked and pleasantly surprised if he plays past 40. Father Time is merciless. Even Brees, superhuman that he is, can't win that battle.

He's in great shape. I think he loses arm velocity before his body gives out. I think he has a minimum of 3 years left.

I say 4 years. But the main question is does he retire, or do we have to cut him. I would hate to have to cut him.

I think he has the passion for the game as much or more than Favre. Maybe not as physically stout as BF but his conditioning is world class. I don't think he would string it out team to team though. Let's see how many years come out of the new contract.

Personally i think it all has to do with the offensive line and ingram. If the offensive line can protect brees, unlike we've seen in the past 2 years and Ingram can stay healthy and provide a good running game,he has a atleast 5 more years. If the line can't protect him, he's got 2.

3 years. Players just drop off a cliff at a certain time. It happens. Father Time is undefeated.

His pocket presence seems to be diminishing a bit. He used to be ultra elite at avoiding pressure in the pocket and the sack...always aware. Now he seems to get snuck from time to time and he is more oblivious to it.
He is still really good at avoiding the pressure but you can see a dip there from where it used to be. That will only increase the longer he plays because the players chasing him will only get faster, stronger, and meaner.
I think at his current level of play he has 2 years left. I think he can play up to 4 more years but the last 2 years will not be the same QB we are familiar with. We can continue to be competitive as long as we have established a new identity by then. We need the defense to come together and our Offensive Line needs to be completed so we can impose our will with the running game to compliment Drew's latter years.

I see at least 2 years at his current level, but do not think he will have as drastic of a drop as Manning did. I believe Manning's drop has a lot more to do with the effects of the neck surgery.
After 3 years from now, if we win another SuperBowl I think he retires then. If not, I see him playing 6 more years.

3 seasons, with a notable drop off in the 3rd
Personally I believe we have to look to the 2017 season as our true championship window. Focus on having the best roster possible at that point.

I was not saying he will dip like Manning...I agree Manning was a different case altogether.
I think he can hang on like Doug Flutie did at the end...you can win with him in the latter years and he will not be a direct hindrance however Sean's sling it 35-45 times a game offense will not work with him at that point.
Favre's rejuvenation in Minnesota had a lot to do with a heck of a defense, and the best running game in football...same as Elway.
We need to play complimentary football to extend his football life.

Three good ones, and probably a diminished one in the 4th.

1/2 a year unless we get new OL players and Ingram can stay healthy for an entire year, for once.

...and a number one wide receiver. Insane that a future HOF QB doesn't have one.

Two.
Retires after winning second Super Bowl

No one knows, not even him probably.
2,3,4 would be a good guess today.
This guy is undefeated and untied:

3 more. Think he's got a lot on his plate other than football. Maybe 4 years if we're an actual contender

3 more years he easily breaks NFL record.
4 years he shatters. Would love to see 4 more productive seasons.

With most folks saying at 3 more years, would ya agree that a possible draftee replacement doesn't even need to be thought about until 2018? Not even then if Grayson turns into THE guy.
