... that the Saints aren't playing as well as they did last year.

I guess this is a time where Saintards, Bandwagoners, and the occasional fans kind of stand out amongst the crowd, because although their wins haven't been as flashy as last year's early season wins, the black & gold has also played to stout defenses, and still found a way to win.

I've been a saints fan my whole life, but you can't think they are playing as well week 2 2010 as they were end of week 2 2009. I'm not complaining cause they did beat two good defenses like you said, but they were playing better at this point last year.

It's kinda hard to say that when we weren't the Super Bowl champions at this time last year, so that's elevated our opponents' level of play, they all want to beat the champs, and we didn't play that good of a defense until the Buffalo game and Jets game last year, and well... the games went kinda like the last two went.

We beat the jets and bills by at least 2 tds so those games didn't go exactly like our last 2.

We're facing better opponents earlier this year, but we have Carolina in two weeks in the Dome... should be a 14 point win or better, so we'll see.

I think the falcons will be a much better test than the panthers.

I meant whether or not we'd blow out the Panthers like we blew out teams early last year.

But yes, I agree - the Falcons are a much bigger threat than the Panthers.

I would agree with that statement.

I think you ask Brees and Payton they'd probably say the same thing.

The difference is do you think they improve, which I do.

In the post game interview, Stinchcomb said that he'd rather be 2-0 with things to improve on than 1-1 or 0-2. Champions find ways to win...

It's tough to score every drive two years in a row. Sure the offense isn't quite the same right now, but i think the defense is actually tougher, even without Sharper. 2-0 and not even close to time for concern yet.

So stinch would probably agree they played better last year. Like most of the fans, he believes they will.

give me the Lions off an 0-16 year with Stafford in his first start and Kolb's first start and this team could replicate those numbers similarly.

I think a lot of memories are clouded by the 13-0 run and winning the Lombardi...

We did beat Buffalo by 20 but 5 minutes into the 4th Qtr we were only up 10-7

NYJ was an even 14 but with 6min left were only up 17-10

Miami was a miracle comeback

ATL at home was a fight not secured until 3min left

CAR at home didn't take the go ahead 23-20 lead until less than 5min left in the game

StL was 1-7 and had to fight to get a 28-23 win

Washington lost that game in OT like the long history of the Saints failures

at ATL facing QB Chris Redman took until 4:42 left in the 4th qtr for the go ahead 26-23 FG

At Carolina really can't count, Dallas was a tough loss, but 13-1 losing to to 1-13 TB wasn't a pretty performance.

That's at least 7 wins that weren't anywhere close to blowout. Plus 3 losses. So maybe 6 lopsided no questions asked games. I'll say they're that many prospects for this year...

2 Carolinas
2 Bucs
ARZ if dirty birds can hang 41 on them
CLV at home
SEA at home

hell, my preseason prediction for Dallas is looking good to me...

10-1, 35-17 over Cowboys Thanksgiving
What looked like a showdown game at the start of the season ends up with Dallas in disarray gasping for playoff breath now at 5-6.

I get what you are saying, but we are only talking about the first two weeks from this season and last. I know the opponents were better this year, but I do think the offense has stalled a bit this year where they wouldn't have last year in those first games. I do believe the offense gets as good or better than last year though. I do think the d is better so far than last year though.

Having under 300 yards total offense and seeing Brees gotten to is concerning to more than just the bandwagon fans because we don't have full faith in the defense yet. When you look at SF's last drive down the field, you can see why confidence in the defense is not high. We are used to trusting the offense, but seeing it struggle some is causing some concern. Back in the 80's-90's, I had full faith in the defense and little in the offense. When someone would run for over 100 yards, I'd get concerned because I knew we were all about defense and if the defense could be moved on, wins would get harder and harder to come by.

The Saints are all about offense. Seeing us struggle there while teams like Houston put up huge numbers causes some concern. That is the thinking.

At the same time, if you don't think they'll improve or get things rolling or if you start dogging the team, you should have your fan credentials revoked. It is okay to make an observation without panicking. No panic, just recognition that the offense isn't in rythmn yet.

Say you are right. We have played two subpar offensive games and still managed to come out 2-0. fricking scary huh...

I'll just say this. I've watched the saints for more years than i want to admit, and we are now doing to teams exactly what we used to allow done to us. The bottom line is the scoreboard when the final whistle blows. NO team can stay on a "super high" and play totally lights out football Every week! The great teams find ways to win when play isnt up to its potential. We will see the offensive machine we've grown accustomed to soon!
