Go to the music board, cause that's where I thought I was when I read your post. Started thinking "what?!" We got our HC back! That's gotta help you feel a little like rappelling instead of all out cliff diving!

Smith and Jenkins are starters, so yes, it is.

I'm not so worried about Smith simply because we are talking about a 3-4 DE, and we're sure to rotate a ton. It might be more of Jordan, Bunkley and Hicks on the line anyway. I feel good about that.

Now Jenkins....I think he's been awful as much as anyone. You are singing to the choir here. All I can say is talent wise, there's no doubt he has it. And he was "suppossed" to be a guy that had a knack for the ball. I hope that a better pass rush, a better scheme, and possibly some time of Jenkins in the nickle/slot will eliminate a lot of his woes.

I think the bounty season has jaded everyone on this team. This is still a beast of a team with probably the best offense in the league under Payton and Brees. If Ryan gets this defense to be competitive, we are going to win a lot of games.

I dont know that you really need to lable anyone here Starters vs Non-Starters, esp when it comes to OLB in a 3-4. When your job is to blitz every play, your going to rotate a lot.

No doubt. It was simply for visual affect. I have a hard time seeing Hawthorne sitting the bench, and obviously Wilson has as good a chance as anyone at one of those outside LB's spots.

So after the best seven years of Saints history and one day of free agency that wasn't splashy enough for you and you're ready to jump off a cliff? Doesn't sound like much of a whodat to me. Don't jump, just go wander around and hop back on prolly when we're at around 10 wins.

I'm not saying it's going to happen, but it's rirdiculous to think it can't happen.

Nnamdi is going on 32 years old and coming off the worst season of his career. He's from LA, and played his best football under Rob Ryan.

Last season the Saints signed Bunkley to a 5 year, $25 million deal. He counts less than $2.5 million against the cap this season.

There is still restructuring that could be done, something still has to give with the RB situation, and while we need the cap space for our picks, the reality is they will also be replacing the 5 lowest salaries on our roster, netting an additional $2 million.

Last I heard we are currently just over $5 million under the cap. We certainly have a couple spots to address, but it's not impossible.

They should play this in the lockeroom every day.

If you are anywhere near the edge of the cliff, then you're an idiot. The only starting positions that need to be addressed are:

-RCB: Derek Cox would be a great fit there, or Xavier Rhodes would be a great choice at 15 if still there.

-SS: Pretty good year in draft and FA to get someone there. If we needed to go into the season with Harper starting, it wouldn't be the end of the world, but it definitely isn't ideal.

FS: Not too worried here. I think IAQ is more than ready to take that spot over, I just hope Ryan gives him the chance to compete for the spot and doesn't automatically give the spot to Jenkins.

-LT: We have done well replacing our O-lineman since Payton and Co. have come to NOLA (Faine, Brown, Goodwin, Nicks), so I'm sure they were ready for a team to overpay Bushrod and to replace him.

I'd like to see more depth in the front 7 on defense, but I think those could easily be addressed with later round draft picks and low money signings.

I've actually felt pretty good about this offseason ever since the season ended compared to the last couple of years. No lockout, no worrying about holdout from Brees, and no bountygate bullshite. Plus, when the two biggest players you lose from your own team are a mediocre LT, and a backup QB, you're doing pretty good.

You have to insert it from more of a sideways angle.

I wouldn't mind seeing Wilson as a starter.

Great teams do not throw themselves out there and overspend the first few days of fa. Look at the patriots and the saints being wise. Waiting for prices to come down. Whereas the browns and bears = desparate
