I posted yesterday that I thought at least one of Grubbs and Evans would be a June 1st cut, and we could see a starting interior of Scherff/Collins-Unger-Lelito. That would be night and day from last year.

Another example of why you shouldn't waste big money on guards. They are fairly replaceable. Every draft has above average/elite guards in it. And they very rarely ever play out those big money contracts

Now we just need to reduce Evans' number

We save $3.6 this year and about $11m next year. Great move getting something for him.

And yeah he's a "pro bowler" as much as Evans was last year and Bushrod was.

We are saving a lot of money for next year. I'll bet my left nut that deals we sign with guys are going to be small this year and balloon next year.

Well I'd agree to an extent. Evans has been pretty amazing for us since 2006 until last year.

I'd agree with that for FA

This is good news for future cap space and getting a pick. Draft La'el or Scherff now with the first pick. Good riddance, Grubbs. Had to figure one of the guards would go and I'm glad it was the lesser of the two. Maybe Jahri can do better with a good center, up and coming Armstead, and a young top notch guard in the draft. I like where this OL is headed. Eventually we can worry about Strief but I think we have a couple years left with him before serious drop off.

I made a comment yesterday when someone asked if we could afford Browner and Williams where I listed all the guys we backloaded. Needless to say I listed about every resigning or FA deal we did.

Elite homegrown talent might be an exception but it's not something id want to get into a bidding war in FA for

i wonder if the Chiefs can afford that contract. Most teams don't pay that kind of money for a guard.

they'll have to rework that deal probably.

While I do think that had a lot to do with play at center, a rookie should do fairly well besides Unger.
