Who do you take if you can only take 1?
Gresham easily for me.

No one has picked up either one. Doesn't sound easy for them

Not even gonna waste the energy defending why Gresham lol...
But seriously, option C. James Jones. I'll keep freakin saying it.
He shouldn't cost that much. Only 31. Vet presence. At least bring him into camp before someone else picks him up. shite.

Honestly think at worst he's a solid #4

Neither, they would be picked up by now if they were of any value

Josh Morgan already filled the older vet being given a chance role (which was Meachem's the last two years).
I think they really want to make room for the younger guys and signing another vet hinders their growth.
And honestly we need to keep getting younger. Our starters have been largely the same year to year (with a few vets coming and a few going). Not too many rookies/young players have been more than role players for us.

We normally bring three (and a few times even four) TEs into the season. After Watson and Hill we have no one that has shown anything (never say never with UDFAs but I won't hold my breath this year).
And we did offer Gresham a contract. Plus if Hill or Watson went down we'd likely be looking at Lorig or Johnson at TE. Though it also wouldn't surprise me if we went into the season with just those four at TE/FB.

Gresham because hill and Watson need to stay fresh. This is going to be a run first team now. Injuries happen to tightends alot in that type of offense.

I like Reggie Wayne, but Gresham has a lot more in the tank than him.

Oh please, you are better than that. Meachem was a one trick pony who was past his prime and only on the team for lack of options and familiarity with the system. Jones can actually run the route tree and catch. Not to mention he has proven he can excel with a competent quarterback, and still managed to nab 70+ catches last year. Morgan hasn't been with a decent qb, but it's not like we don't have the cap room to make a signing like Jones and/or Gresham.
Our young guys have largely been role players because we have screwed the pooch with drafting and have had shite for a quantity of picks. A player like Jones would not impede the development of any player who lived up to the expectations that this coaching staff is indicating they have in some of these guys. Even if he's a camp body, shite. Don't guarantee him any money, or just the vet min. If we bring him in and someone beats him out then we know we are in good shape. If no one does, then it shows we are operating at a deficit anyways.

I'm 99% sure that we offered him the 1 year vet min, he said "let me look around", got an invite to Arizona, and they offered the same thing. I don't know of any other visits that he's had, and Cincy apparently doesn't want him back.
If you have any faith in your ability as a good TE, do you go to Arizona (no legit TEs) or New Orleans (one over the hill solid TE and one super raw but somewhat talented TE) with a QB that has thrown passes to two of the most dynamic TEs ever? And Arizona has better WR talent than we do that could eat up more receptions. Unless someone offers a good bit more money than the minimum (not going to happen), he would be stupid to not come here.
