Excuse me. Be more agressive and get off a jam at the LOS and improve at blocking pussy. Is that better?

Calvin Johnson doesn't get shut down by mediocre CBs and safeties.

I like how Florio at PFT discretely gives his opinion on the matter:
quote:

As to Saints tight end Jimmy Graham, he’ll either get $7.035 million as a tight end or $12.312 million as a receiver.

Really wish we'd just trade him.

Yes

Calvin Johnson has about double the receiving yards of Graham.. and he is constantly made to be a focal point to shut down.

If I am paying a guy top receiver money then give me a top receiver over a top tight end who isn't even much of a blocker.

Really it's hard to justify putting that kinda money into any non-QB position player with a salary cap.

Megatron is also a way better blocker and doesn't allow defenders to jam him at the line of scrimmage.

Blocking is a huge part of a game. It's a team sport. Some of the best receivers are also some of the best blockers.

quote:

Everyone knows what Lions receiver Calvin Johnson can do with the ball in his hands, but Johnson’s position coach says that what really sets Johnson apart is what he does when the ball is going to someone else.

quote:

Top 10 Run (and Screen) Blocking Wide Receivers

1. Mushin Muhammad (+19.8)

2. Brandon Marshall (+15.3)

3. Hines Ward (+12.3)

4. Roddy White (+12.1)

5. Michael Clayton (+12.1)

6. Vincent Jackson (+9.9)

7. Reggie Wayne (+9.5)

8. Larry Fitzgerald (+9.0)

9. Andre Johnson (+9.0)

10. Terrance Copper (+8.3)

They only have the top ten, but the majority are or were top receivers in the NFL. Megatron would probably rank somewhere in the top 15. Graham wouldn't even scratch the top 30.

Send him to the voodoo. Face it, you're a TE. Stop your crying.

He's going to be signed because Brees wants him as a safety net. How much he will get is the only mystery

The Saints reportedly will place the franchise tag on their star tight end before Monday's deadline to reach new contracts, as first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter. This isn't a surprise as the Saints were expected to resort to such a move if they couldn't make way in negotiations.

The man is 6'6" 265 lbs. Sherman is what 6'' 210 lbs.? Graham should have buried him at the line of scrimmage. Same goes for Talib. The NFL is a copy cat league. More teams will ttry to jam him at the LOS this upcoming season. If he wants $10-12 Million per year he needs to toughen up.

As I agree that he is a TE and that the Saints need all of the space they can get under the cap, you people are crazy with all of this trade talk. If you think another TE with his skill set and ability is comign around again in the next 5 years you are all delusional. The two TE's in the league that everyone has nightmares about are JM and Gronk. There isn't another team that all people talk about are their players at TE. I don't think he deserves 12 mil a year but to suggest trading him when he isnt even under contract is just ridiculous. Give the negotiations time like the Brees contract talks timeline went down and a deal that is BETTER for both sides will get done.

Strawman. No one said that, and it really isn't the point. The past 3 super bowl winner didn't have one of those guys. We won our Super Bowl without Jimmy. There's more than one way to do this.

Brees can make anyone look great. JG is his favorite weapon, but if we got a top WR in a trade, he would have more yards, catches, and maybe even TDs than Graham.

I still want to keep JG, but a TE should not be the focal point of an offense, and I definitely would prefer to not overpay for one even as good as Graham.

Not that I'm saying we should trade him because that would be the extreme worst case scenario where he doesn't take any less than $11-12m a year, but I have to agree with Pat about the nightmare TE aspect. You, we, they, whoever does not need a top flight TE to win the Super Bowl.

If the Saints think the price is worth it they'll keep him. Many fans just think anything over $10 is more than pushing it.

That's 3 other legit starters we could sign(even if they're second or third tier) and I would think that 3 legit guys would have more impact than one beast guy, unless we are talking QB.
