So are we going to sign him to highest TE salary and pencil him in as WR1 like he thinks he is?

I like what Solomon Wilcots said at the beginning of Total Access. The female asked "Can't blame Graham for filing another appeal?" Solomon stated.. I can...the last time I checked he is a TE.

What is he worth to you?
9.5 million...the deal already on the table.
He is a TE, the Tag is 7mil. The current deal on the table would make him the highest paid TE of all time.
I want him to get paid what's fair....the highest paid TE of all time is MORE THAN FAIR!
If he is not happy with that, he can sign his Tender and gamble on his health....GOOD LUCK

Saints TE Jimmy Graham has officially appealed the ruling that stated he’ll be paid as a franchise-tagged TE not WR,

Can someone explain to me how these two facts are reconciliable?

You don't see how this works? If they reach a deal, the appeal is dropped. It's just a way to get things moving, perhaps making the Saints come up on guaranteed money.

I see.
I assumed that if Graham was appealing, then he didn't want to reach an agreement until the appeal was done.

That would work IF the appeal postponed tomorrow's deadline, but it doesn't, so it spurs movement.
Jimmy doesn't want the appeal heard, because even if he won, he'd lose more money long term, AND run the risk of getting injured during the season, hurting future earnings.

I still think it is going to be:
5yr/48mil with 20-25mil guaranteed
I mean Gronk's was what, 6yr/53mil with 16.5mil guarantee?

5/$55m isn't that bad considering how fast the cap is rising. I'd say it's right in the ballpark.

Its always a little higher than we expect it to be

Maybe the most important thing for him is the salary. Now he has a very high as a TE and the salary is not less than a top WR. Jimmy must have been satisfied.
