Getting Jimmy Garoppolo

If we don't resign Brees and his era is done as a Saint.
Should we go after Garoppolo?
If so, what do you think we give up for him?

Absolutely not. The benefit of a rookie qb is riding that rookie contract while we fix salary issues. If we get to 0-4 we should trade Brees and tank for Darnold, Allen, or Rosen. Save the 20 mil contract difference and come back in two or three years much better.

This 100%.
Recent history has shown that signing the sexy backup to a huge contract doesn't work out too well.

I like Cooper Rush a lot. Still would be in his second year with Dallas, and we could get him for cheap. He has a lot of upside...

IF the Pats are willing to toy with that idea of him being traded again, they are going to want first round picks from a few drafts and that team's soul.
Why don't the Saints draft efficiently and find themselves a Garoppolo?
The absolute bust attempt at drafting Grayson gives me no hope in Payton's QB evaulation.

Mother fricking this. Has everyone not learned from the Brock Osweiler fiasco?

someone please tell me why people think Jimmy Garoppolo is something special and believe he is the next tom brady ??????
other then playing "average" in a couple of games, like so many other backups do, he is only a "hot commodity" because BB didnt want to trade him, thats his ONLY claim to fame.
could he be a starting QB? sure, maybe, or he could be the next bum to rob a team based on pure hype alone and nothing proven on the field.
just because he stands next to brady on the sideline and BB rather keep him then sign colen kaeperdick as his backup, doesnt mean JG is a good QB or worth going after the way people salivate over a chance at getting him lol.

And how do you propose that we entice him to waive his No Trade Clause? All of the Jimmy John's franchises in his new city?

Denver let him walk
Pats refused to trade garapollo for huge draft ransom.
I'd still lean going elsewhere such as rookie QB, or more available options without getting trade raped

Brock Osweiler, Matt Cassel, Matt Flynn, Charlie Whitehurst, etc.
Although guys like Jake Delhome, Aaron Brooks, Mark Brunel and Matt Hasselbeck were all okay as back up to starter rolls. But the odds still favor finding a QB in the draft. Especially financially. But we have to understand that neither is a sure thing and the odds actually are against us in ding a good QB.

Matt Schaub
Tony Romo went from backup qb to starter but on own team.

He's going to be a UFA I believe, so there isn't much the Pats can do about it unless they franchise him.

I keep posting the 2018 UFA QB's. He's in there.
I think Cousins is a better fit.

Pats aren't letting him walk. IMO at least
Bridgewater or Bradford, one of them should be available next yr.

Suck so bad that Sam darnold is available in the draft. Clean house
Posted on 9/20/17 at 11:33 am to JvB_84
Pats are keeping him clearly to be the next guy so I don’t think he’s available.

yep, they pretty much decided to FT him next season this last year when they didnt trade him, otherwise they would have made the trade before letting him walk for free

I would take Trevor Seimian from Denver if where to come available over Garoppolo..
