Baws, I cant help but feel a tad conflicted about our Saints. On one hand I think our Offense can beat anyone, anywhere, anytime. Yet our Defense lacks that 2009 moxie and swagger that got us to the promise land. I feel were only a few pieces and a D-Coord that actually wants to hit the QB away from being back in the picture.

To say that our D.C. doesn't want to hit the QB is not fair. We are averaging 2.0 sacks per game on the year which is #20 in the NFL, however our avg over the last 3 games is 3.7 sacks per game which would rank is 1st. so what changed? Oh yeah, we got our first round pick back from injury.

Saints front 7 is one piece away from being elite.

That Cam/Rankins/Fairley Dline has been nice

Watching Rankins cause that forced fumble was awesome, he pushed the lineman so far back

Yesterday was fun as hell but we're not there yet. This still feels to me like the same movie we've watched for 5 years. I'm sure we'll get to 6-6 before derping our way to 7-9 or 8-8

Still need a Zach Cunningham LB in the draft and a Cliff Avril type to play on the other side of Cam.

If we do that, then our defense will be ALOT better. Could be good even. Hell just having Kikaha back next year will help. But I think he's a 3rd DOWN specialist

Kikaha will be a good fit when he comes back. I would invest more in the CB's early in the draft. Then see if you can find gems for the front 7 in late rounds.

Lol...I forgot we don't have kikaha, pj Williams, and swann (not sure he counts tho)
Sign a FA DE
draft LB and CB
Sign one more veteran DB, and then boys, I think we have something here

I still think KiKaha can fill a role on that other end similar to what Galette did.

Front 7 is largely irrelevant these days. It's a front 6 now.

Retain Fairley, plus Jordan and Rankins with a rotation of Kikaha and Edebali and that's more than solid. An elite or even high end rush end (like JG that bastard) and it would be an elite line.

Ellerbe and Robertson are both outstanding LBs and they are close to an elite duo. Then you have a great rotation behind them. Add someone with a little more playmaking (like a younger, healthier Ellerbe) and that's an elite group.

Vaccaro is playing balls out again and Bell has come along nicely. Byrd is mostly doing his job (even though it's stupid to keep playing him so deep most plays). This group is close too.

CB is where we are weakest but once we get fully healthy this will be a strong group lacking only a shutdown corner to be elite.

So really every group could use that one more player to push it into elite. I feel the line is the closest to that point right now. Having another top notch corner (though Moore has not done bad at all) would make a much bigger difference.

Easily. Jordan at DE & Fairley/Rankins/Davison/Onyemata at DT is pretty damn good/borderline elite. Just need that 3 down DE to complete the group. I guess we could get by with a run stopping DE that rotates with Kikaha/Edebali on passing downs. I actually wish they would give Tapp more of Kruger's snaps.

We would be fine at LB if you could count on Ellerbe being healthy. Definitely need 1 more legit CB as well.

I like our safeties for the time being. Some people want Byrd gone, but I hope we keep him for one more year. Maybe use a mid/late round pick on a safety for when Byrd leaves.

Retaining Fairley & Byrd makes it much easier to acquire our three big needs(DE,LB,CB) on defense. OG & OT on offense.

Yeah I forget to even mention the depth on the line. It's the opposite of the offensive line.

And I feel that they have been giving Tapp more snaps but I could be wrong. He seems to make plays when he's in at least.
