The Atlanta Falcons are reportedly interested in moving up in the 2015 NFL draft in an effort to land a defensive playmaker.

Do The Saints counter or do we just sit back and relax?

We don't need to trade up. I wouldn't even mind moving back 3-5 spots and getting more 2-3rd round picks.

Problem is, does a top 5 team really want to drop back to 13 regardless of the value of compensation received. Atl has the luxury where a team is dropping far back and still target an upper echelonish type player.

Probably going for Fowler. Too bad we had to win that Tampa game, otherwise we'd be in the same position.

We were bad fans they said. Always hope for a win they said.

I'd like to comment on this.

I am of the opinion that you try to win every game you play. However, I do understand the reasoning behind wanting them to drop that game. With that said, did it every occur to any of you that are of the latter opinion, that Tampa was throwing that game too? That they just worked a little harder at throwing it. That if the Saints had tried to throw it harder than Tampa, that it would have been too obvious to most viewers that both teams were playing to lose. I wouldn't want that for my favorite team.

As fans, it doesn't matter one bit what we hope for.

The day your team and management start accepting Losing, or losing to get better picks is the day the team and front office needs a total make-over. I want the team to play to win EVERY DAMN GAME. PERIOD.

Winning is contagious. Success breeds success.

Easy for fans to have that opinion. Hard for a coach to look into his players eyes and give them the message that you are giving up when your whole philosophy in coaching them 365 days a year for 9 years is to work, prepare, and play your fricking arse off.

Don't think the NFL would allow a "tank off" in an NFL game. It's a business and all 32 teams are part of the bigger NFL business.

It is pretty much accepted that Tampa did throw that game.

I will state again that a team should never play to lose. That's a horrible precedent to be set by the coach. However, that doesn't mean you play your starters in a meaningless game. My issue wasn't with them playing to win; it was with them not benching Brees, Graham, Lofton, Colston, Lewis and Cam. I don't understand why they would risk their veteran players getting hurt (ala Brees in San Diego) over a game that 1. does nothing for you if you win and 2. gives you higher draft value if you lose.

You can still play to win, just doing so with second string players that will also get valuable experience. THAT is what was dumb and arrogant. Thankfully none of them suffered any injuries

Bravo SaintEB, Sid, and Chad. Players don't want to throw games. Coaches (unless talked about ahead of time with the owner and GM) don't want to throw games and if they did how is that going to look to players busting their arse to play hard every game?

As for the comment about moving back 3-5 spots and getting more second or third rounders, we'd have to move further down than that. At best moving down five may get us an end of the third/beginning of the fourth pick.

They(ATL) still would have been ahead in the draft order anyway.

Yup.

And don't get me wrong I was half rooting for them to lose but I did NOT want to see them tank on purpose. If it happened naturally so be it but do not force it.

I may be wrong, but, my impression was that the Indy Colts tanked an entire season in order to take Andrew Luck with the first pick of the draft.

In this thread, we debate the merits of tanking for one game. The Colts tanked an entire season to get Luck, and, IMHO, that was a smart move.

I am now settled into the view that having MORE picks is better, so, don't trade up by sacrificing picks.

That's the NE Patriot way -- get more picks, not fewer.

It made no sense to not see what SJB was capable of in that game.
