DT Nick Fairley has agreed to terms on a 1-year deal with the #Saints, source said. It was headed this way last week, but now official

Been a solid FA this year with exception of haven't got a guard yet. No huge financial splashes except Fleener (spell?) somewhat. But we have pulled in some good players.

@AdamSchefter: New Orleans Saints are signing former Rams DT Nick Fairley to a one-year deal. Fairley mulled decision over weekend, informed teams this am.

Nice. This shouldn't deter us from a DT in the 1st or 2nd, but this definitely helps in case there are better players at other positions available with those picks.

Love this signing! Maybe with Laurinaitis signing here it helped a bit. DE, G, and WR in the draft and that's a helluva offseason.

His overall on madden is 90 as of now. Just watch how it will be bumped down to 82 just because he signed with us

1 year deal keeps him motivated. I like it, its a good pickup. He can rush the QB.

It shouldn't effect what we do in the draft too much. We will still pick a DT #1 if he's the best player.

Although I do wonder if it would make us slightly more likely to take a player like A'Shawn, who can take on two blockers, over a player like, say, Rankins, that is more of a pass rusher.

As someone who is not a fan of A'Shawn at 12, I am afraid of this. I do think he can become a good 2-down player, I just don't think he's worthy of the 12th overall pick.

A) Would he have played less motivated if he was on a 2 yr deal?

B) I don't think a player on a 1 yr deal keeps us from drafting a similar style player.

#Patriots knew Friday that Nick Fairley was headed to NO, so they secured Terrance Knighton's visit today. But #Redskins want him back, too.

For the PFF fans:

Disappointed that it's only a one year deal. Would have liked taking a chance on a three or 4 year dal.
