985 I appreciate your thoughtful response. The original did sound like you just categorized Butler as a douche. Rather than locker room cancer, more like, any potential locker room distractions.

And that is absolutely a leverage point for the saints in contract negotiations. I'd imagine it is one of the reasons we're interested in him. And if he doesn't play well this year for them, he ends up hurting himself more than the Pats too.
He really has zero leverage with the Pats with the tender and then the franchise tag the following year. They'll take the tiny risk if they don't get what they want
You basically explained why the Pats signing Gilmore isn't a red flag in your post though. You can get another good corner plus move Butler for an asset.
