Interested to learn the #Dolphins finished 2nd to the #Seahawks in the Jimmy Graham trade. MIA was aggressive in trying to upgrade at TE.

At least they gave us a 3rd rounder and Ellerbe for a drag queen.

I thought the GM's on this board said we didn't even try to see what others were willing to give for him

I wonder what they were offering. If I had to guess, I would think Jimmy for Ellerbe and there 2016 1st round pick or their 2015 second round pick. Don't see us turning down their 14th pick. (Unless they wanted us taking on Ellerbe's full contract)

That Miami 1st rounder would have been real nice. Who would've been the other player I wonder and I'm sure that was the hold up. Would rather not have Jimmy in the NFC.

I'd take the 14th and move back to pick up an extra 2nd.

Maybe Pouncey and a pick? Is this a function of Ireland shopping at his old employers or just coincidence?

So would it have been Pouncey?

I could see it as a case of us calling for Unger and Miami called about Graham or maybe we called them for a comparison to what Seattle was offering.

It's always better to have a third party involved to drive up the price so this isn't shocking news and could still have evolved from one team asking about him(after we asked for their player) to us getting other offers to check his market.

And that could have lead to the Stills trade because we originally offered a(couple of) receiver. When Seattle got Jimmy instead we could have asked the Dolphins if they were interested in Stills (with a clearly downgraded offer from what Jimmy would have gotten us).

possible the dolphins could have been offering. Pouncey has 1 yr left like 7 million dollars on his deal, FA in 2016, not as good of an asset being acquired than Unger. Plus Unger isn't a POS like the Pouncey family. Hard to believe the saints would have been overly interested in him.

Exactly.

Just a total coincidence that Loomis and Ireland had strong historical ties to both of those franchises, and that's who finished 1-2 in the Jimmy Sweepstakes. One hundred percent coincidental.

I would bet it also included Mike Wallace in some form.
