Preseason?

He had 5 carries in preseason in 2 games.

He's a 28 year old running back with a lot of carries on him. He has media baggage that comes with it. I wouldn't take him over ingram. He may have been injured in 2013, but all running backs have to play through injuries.

He was PFF's worst rated running back in 2013

I'm not saying that he won't have 1 good year left in him, but I don't think he's a long term solution. Now if he wants to come in for $1 million/year or a prove it contract, I'm game. I just think there are better, younger runnings backs out there

Personally, I want Ingram back, just not at 6 million per. I dont think the value fits for the Saints. I would take Rice, because he would come deeply discounted, but he probably isn't a starting HB anymore. Im thinking about what Mike Bell was for us in '09. If Peterson becomes available, I think the Cowboys are all over him and will run his price tag up beyond his worth 2 or 3 years down the road.

Agreed, I'm just not sure if he's even worth $3-4 million with our oline problems and Robinson costing us near $0 cap wise.

I'd rather put that $4 million/year into FA towards guards or a #2 corner and draft a late round running back that could spell Robinson.

Because everything we see in preseason automatically translates to success in the regular season. The only preseason game even worth watching to see what a team has is the 3rd preseason, but you want to base what his regular season success would have been based on the handful of carries he has in the first 2 preseason games. Then go ahead, keep crowing them based on preseason results.

In regards to the injury, all players play through pain and injury. You are going to believe that he played the entire season injured because he used it as an excuse after the season for his struggles. Can call me skeptical all you want, but I doubt he plays a full season (15 games) w/ an injured hip; maybe the back end of the season, but not the entire year.

If Rice gets to use the injury excuse for his down year, why doesn't Ingram get the same benefit for his earlier years when he was rushing under 4 a carry. Yet, when he's mostly healthy and averages 4.9 & 4.3, most people automatically wants him to go somewhere else.

I'm probably the biggest Mark Ingram homer on this site. I 100% want to resign him. Was just taking up for Ray a little. I wouldn't mind him for super cheap if Ingram left.

I say you let Ingram walk, keep Pierre and Khiry, and either bring back Reggie Bush or sign CJ Spiller who will be a good FA pick up (and probably cheaper than anticipated) after McCoy coming to Buffalo

He's already walked

The question is at this moment in galactic time what would you pay per year to keep him?

We have promising young back in Robinson who is under contract for ~$750k.

I laugh so hard at people who say this. Robinson is a spell hb. He isn't a starter. Ingram has proved that he can shoulder the full carries and games and he deserves to be the full time starter.

Agreed and free agent pool at RB is very deep this year. I don't think we need to overpay for anyone

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

On either one. Peterson has taken a beating in his career and is about to his the dreaded 30.

Not to mention both would be a distraction.....do not want!

So you want to trade for Peterson, not sign him?

Also, 1 person said he wasn't leaving Minny. We still can't sign him...

Like Bill Parcells?

Possibly. He's as proven as Ingram going into this season.

Ugh, I never once said Robinson was better than Ingram. If you're going to quote me, try not to misrepresent what I said.

Also, Ingram has had issues staying healthy too. He earned the starting role, but that doesn't mean we should ignore that it's a position where you can find good production for cheap and late in the draft

No. He isnt. Ingram is better and has proved himself better.

Look, I'm not saying cut Kihry, or that he doesnt have a spot on the team, but Ingram has proven that he deserves the spot, he's better than Kihry, and hes an NFL caliber starting runningback.

Kihry is an unproven spell HB with some potential. But he isnt as good as Ingram. He's a great compliment, and i want them both there. But let's not act like they are equals.

Yes. I would laugh in his face if he told me this.

Fine. You said they're exactly even. Which also isnt true.
