And even if Benson IS senile, he’s somehow still the best candidate amonghis warring clan to maintain control of the team. That’s how bad it’s gotten in New Orleans. Success is beside the point now. The team won a Super Bowl, and now it can go ahead and be torn to shreds in a bitter family struggle that has no sympathetic participants. Did I mention that New Orleans built a statue for Benson even though he tried his damndest to move the team after Katrina?

thought he could've hit harder on our crazy offseason... kinda disappointed in the article really

Christ on a bike, those comments almost make me feel like an a-hole for being a Saints fan. I do admit, though, that the Saints do have some of the dumbest, most bandwagon crybaby fans in the NFL.

The Deadspin thing was funny the first time they used GUMBO BOOYAH ZYDECO TOBASCO all-caps stereotyped word porn. They're still doing it in these hackish posts. I didn't even laugh at this one.

right?

everyone forgot this when he went and hired an assistant coach as head coach, got a QB with one of the worst rotator cuff injuries in history, and then lucked his way into an elite WR int he also round.

He is the real life version of the owner from major league.

Drew Magary still knocks these out of the park. He puts into words why Brees has gotten annoying and preachy and why Payton is a dumpster fire of a head coach since 2011 in ways that I aspire to but fall short of.

You must be too sensitive b/c the Brees selling Hitler chewing gum was really inspired stuff.

If we're being honest; I feel pretty offended by most of the text in that article, but I did laugh at 80% of it.

quote:

The team also traded away guard Ben Grubbs and wideout Kenny Stills (apparently because Brees didn’t like them).

What "source" did he get this from?

Drew Brees has slowly morphed into a shorter, birth-marked version of Brett Favre. I would have to take off my shoes and my pants to count up the number of backbreaking interceptions he has thrown the last few years and yet no one seems to call him on it ever.

I have, mate... I have.

"Fans" since 2006 lol. The Saints have hit their window of opportunity already. It's downhill from here folks, mark my word. Sean Payton to Texas in 2017 lol

Not to mention the Texans passing on Reggie Bush. Not that Reggie was some type of superstar, but that dude sold some tickets.

Except not really

He makes that same "GUMBO GUMBO GUMBO" joke every year. Magary comes off as a pompous, self-righteous a-hole in pretty much everything he writes.

Not really. The Saints and Pelicans put up the statue, not the city.

To be fair he never really tried to take credit for any of that. It's not like he's been Jerry Jonesing it and acting like he put together a Superbowl team.

Not really. She wanted to move the team then they won to spite her. He wanted to move the team(and if people want to be honest with themselves he had a legit reason), was told no, then he sank into the background let the people hired do the work while he counted his money. He also attempted to buy back plenty of goodwill which has obviously been extremely successful.

I had forgotten about that. That dude was hilarious. "Not in our house, bitch." A total a-hole, but a part of me really liked it.
