Marcus Davenport’s physical is still processing, for those wondering why he wasn’t at the press conference today, per @DWolfsonKSTP.

Davenport has dealt with finger and shoulder issues over the last few seasons.

If he fails, I'd try to get him back really cheap

Nothing to lose. Offer some chump change guaranteed or he can shop his arse around.

I’m just glad I don’t have to try to convince myself this will be his year anymore

Don’t worry, the GM who drafted him is still here to frick up future 1st rounders.

Not fair.

He was durable in college… 43 starts. He is very talented and productive at this level. Injury issues aside, which no one could have seen coming, he was a smart pick.

We played ourselves. Will lose a 4th round pick if it doesn’t go through.

No he wasn't. I remember the talking heads on draft night being shocked when we traded up for Davenport when they all thought it would be Lamar Jackson.

Now THAT would have been a smart pick.

Then they tried to save face by saying the league was changing and teams would start trading up big for pass rushers...well I'm still waiting on that trend.

Would rather lose a 4th than pay multi-millions for a slightly above avg (at best) for 8 games a year.

I didn’t say I agreed with the specific trade for the Saints to get into that pick position. I’m saying he was drafted, more or less, as slotted and had no injury flags in college. When available, he was a very complete NFL edge defender.

People on here act like they knew all this on draft night, and foolishly drafted him anyway. It’s unfair to the FO.

Think he’s finally had more injuries than first rounders we gave up for him.

Yup. Elite run stopper and his best season, he generated top 5 in Qb hits/pressures/sacks.

Sorry to say he's made of glass now

Must have hurt his hand signing the contract. 6-9 month recovery timetable upcoming. Injuries and jokes aside, there was no way it made sense to offer a DL which is a position that takes the most effort on the field play in and play out a huge contract when the player is openly known to not love football. It’s a process that he has to endure to get a paycheck.

I mean, the guy clearly doesn't love football. I have always said this and got shite on.

Of course he has talent. He just never put it together for an entire season.

That money can be spent better elsewhere imo. Grab 2 ends for 13 mil instead of one. Spend the money on og matt feiler.
