shite I would take it that band-aid for one year if it means our first Super Bowl victory...if the answer is not there in the draft and we limited with cap space this just may be the right move

I think his knowledge and veteran leadership would be a great addition to our young secondary.

I don't think so.

Like others have said he's not the answer long term, but is a good bridge for the usama project or if we draft someone. We're going to need a vet back there with Williams' system. This would be a solid move

Our secondary needs playmakers, not knowledge and veteranship.

Go ask the vikings about how they feel about losing Sharper and how his pass coverage was last season.

Same. Go to a vikings board and ask an honest question about Sharpers coverage skills lately.

Dude, how many old guys do we need to sign? David Patten was the only one I can remember that really contributed. I'd much rather take a shot at some young coachable raw talent than waste money on a borderline retiree...

I rather take a flyer on Mike Brown than Darren Sharper.

I will second this motion...when healthy Mike Brown is 1 of the premier safeties in the league

Oh goody gumdrops. Another over the hill safety who's past his prime to give the FO yet another excuse for not actually addressing the position.

I dunno how much to respond to saying we don't need any veteran knowledge and leadership. To balance a salary cap you cannot have Pro Bowl players at every position. Sammy Knight was a great example. He was forced out by Haslett as too old. For Tebucky Jones! Knight had some good years left in Miami (Tebucky replaced him there too) & KC, and was still good enough to be on the Giants roster as a backup last year.

Sharper ain't THE answer but I don't see any answer they can afford at this time. They'll have to pick up a 2nd round pick to get a draftee that could even contend for time.

Sharper as a component along with a draftee (4th Rd unless 2nd acquired) and maybe Usama Young or MMck learning some safety might be enough improvement to tide over a year until a FA or a Taylor Mays can be added.

Our safety spot is lacking player makers. I have nothing against adding a veteran but it better be a veteran who can still play. Saints can make cap room and they can afford to sign a safety. But if you think Darren Sharper is going to help us out in the pass defense department, you are WRONG.

positives: williams runs a lot of cover 2, and that's about all sharper can do anymore

negatives: williams likes to blitz, and this will affect that to an extent. porter/gay/young better come correct

Maybe we can sign Sammy Knight to play SS next to Sharper next season and they can push each other around in their wheel chairs.

/sarcasm off

I just don't see anyone in the draft that can be an immediate improvement for us and there's just no way we can go into another season with fricking KK and Bullocks
