for the record

Kyle Fuller is 3 years older than Cooks
Kelvin Benjamin is 2.5 years older

Cooks played 1/4 of last season as a 20yr old. Think about what you were doing at 20, and how much better you are at your job now.

Not that he was even bad. But it was clear they eased him in as far as the playbook. I just remember those articles leading up to the draft about how hard he worked and how great his character is again. I'm betting on the kid, personally. He's going to be good.

As for these other bigger WR's, this is another deep draft in 15' at WR. We can find our Jordan Matthews, Donte Moncreift or Davante Adams this year, and have a nice pair of WR for the future

Great point about about age. That is huge as he will be a star for us a lot longer than others would have been.

And we shouldn't forget that he missed some of the offseason because of his school being on a quarters system and him not being technically graduated until the summer.

Tall WR doesn't always equal good. And we had Coslton and Jimmy to fill that role. What we needed was a playmaker and that's what Cooks will be for us.

Exactly. We can get these guys in other drafts. How often can you get an elite playmaker though? Not saying Cooks is this, but the organization saw him as such and decided getting an elite player is better than a very good one. I completely agree with them on this concept. I also believe he will be that elite player.

Well said, I agree entirely. I hate the common opinion that last year that, being a deep draft at WR, we should have taken one at a later round. Yes it was a deep draft, but who's to say anyone after Cooks even registered as a blip on the Saints' radar. At some point you have to trust your scouts over the opinions of 3rd party draft "experts". It's clear they had and still have a high opinion of Cooks and his abilities.

I don't disagree with the things being said about age or potential.

Most complaints (including mine) had nothing to do with Cooks but rather the fact that trading up to get him added no value. You gave up your 3rd round pick to jump to get him with Benjamin, Richardson, Matthews, Adams, Landry all on the board still.

It was just not real smart. And looking back so far those other guys bear that out.

He could very well blow up for 1200yds and 12 tds next year but that hasn't happened yet and until it does I won't believe I was wrong.

oh, so you're one of those that thinks a rookie year dictates an entire career. Got it.

This. I like him as a receiver but I didn't think he was THAT much better than the other options that didn't require giving up a 3rd rounder in a very deep draft class.

I was on the Jordan Matthews bandwagon. Figured he could come in and ultimately replace Colston.

Could have been a nice 1st 3 picks in hindsight...

1st: Jordan Matthews
2nd: Kony Ealy
3rd: Bryan Stork

You can't read.

I said in my statement that he could blow up and be worth it.

But as of now he's not. And he would need to be better than those guys.
