I think payton felt "figured out" last season and is marred by it. Hes going to restructure our fundamentals on offfense like is being touched on in this thread. Less predictability from the RB position in the passing game, more solid in run game, more production from the WR in the passing game and like was said, less small ball. We will see.

Cooks, Stills, Joe Morgan situationally, Healthy Jimmy Graham should alleviate and open up the run game for the offense this year.

Right. What positions does Julio Jones play for y'all?

He has been given the ball to carry, and caught an interception. So I guess there is that.

He's probably better than any safety on your roster right now.

Maybe sometimes but if you aren't taking advantage of Cooks speed getting him vertical and down the seams, you are really doing the offense an injustice. He's not sproles, he's not moore. He may replace them with merely touches but the ways he will produce and used are not that comparable imo.

isn't that really the beauty of the pick though? His potential vertical threat makes it tougher to defend him, whereas sproles was a little more predictable.

agreed! these are exactly my thoughts, and I believe we will see a more focused run game and dynamic passing game as a result.

I agree with everything you said, but Harvin did line up at running back at times in Minn. Same with Sea.

which is why I stated Harvin as the best comparison. I think we will see Cooks lineup in the backfield at times, though rarely, for "wrinkles" and mismatches; however, he will not be a RB that is used for underneath routes and obvious screens that get snuffed out. He will average more than the 8.5ypc of Sproles... guaranteed.

Cooks will be running every route a playbook can offer. One of his best qualities is his route running technique, and Paeyton will use that along with his speed and shiftiness.

Cooks = Harvin

Ha! I think he will be too. He has similar skill set without the character flaws, lack of dedication and headaches

This was easily my worst semester of college in a very long time. (My first year was a joke)

I went through a bunch of shite and my grades were horrendous. This sounds ridiculous but I'm hoping I get higher than a 2.0, as awful as that sounds. I'm a senior and need to finish, but it's been a rough few months that's affected my schooling. I've been out of it, and started seeing a therapist to help, which I believe will.

On to the topic:

Cooks is certainly not a RB, and I definitely agree with the Harvin/Cobb comparisons. The thing is, he will get some carries on this team, it just won't be a regular occurrence. Payton will find ways to use him in creative ways, and it won't be as predictable as it was with Sproles. I think this guy will be all over the field. Looks for some sweeps and reverses with Cooks, and plenty of short passes.

Haha, and he doesn't have to worry about Rafael Bush hitting him.

I haven't been this excited about a season in a while!

shite man. We have all had some pretty shitty semesters though. Spent 1 semester traveling back between GA and LSU every damn weekend because of family issues. I think maybe once or twice I didn't have to go back, but that was it. Just hang in there man.

Harvin was a RB coming out of college, though. He ran the ball a lot at Florida. You can probably trace his durability issues back to his usage at UF, actually.

I think we want to keep Cooks away from the Haloti Ngata and Patrick Willis types of the world. We need him on the field. Im sure we will work him in to some gimmicky "run" plays.. reverses, that end around play, etc.
