Really really wanted Saints to gun for Patrick Willis in 07' as well. I knew he was going to be an all around stud.

When the Saints traded to get back in the draft in the 5th Rd (Morstead) I thought fo sho it had to be for Jennings. 5.2 & 5.5ypc his first 2 yrs. 2013 was the first time he got more than 101 touches. 733yds on 163 carries still at 4.5ypc

Yep. Can you imagine how many Ingram and Ivory threads would have been avoided if we picked him up.

Can someone link the Vacarro draft day thread? I remember so many WAT OMG'S????????????????? it would be funny to read now

I can lie. I lost my shite and posted something stupid when we passed on Jones. Then I calmed down. I think it was because I didn't think there was any chance we would take Vaccarro. I'm glad we did though.

I absolutely hated the Meachem pick. We had just finished our greatest offensive year ever and the last thing we needed was a WR. Looking back though, Meachem saved us in the Washington game in 09. We barely got homefield in the playoffs and that made all the difference.

I've talked to a lot of people that still think Reggie was nothing but a bust and the Meachem pick was still horrible. They both had huge roles that year, and that is all that matters.

2007: I remember hearing some rumors about Payton really liking Mega and possible trying to trade up for him. Those were probably unfounded rumors though and really just a pipe dream. Other than that I wanted either Bowe or Buster Davis. I thought that they were about equal as prospects despite Bowe being a little more valued by most.

2008: I thought that Dorsey was the next Sapp, but I was satisfied with Ellis. I also remember really liking Keith Rivers. I think he had a promissing rookie year prior to injury before fizzling. None of my picks were good at all that year in hindsight.

2009: I wanted us to get Jenkins. The first couple of years seemed promissing before he fell off a cliff. This past year I guess that he was a passable starter. ETA: I remember my dad wanting us to try to get Clay Matthews. He thought he was going to be the best LB of that crop.

2010: Everything was gravy. I didn't even care about the Draft at this point.

2011: I think that this draft was deep at DE. There were a handful that I was fine getting. I'm glad we got the one that we did. I was pretty enthused about getting Ingram also. I thought that he would be a more effective power runner off the bat than he turned out.

2013: I wanted Jones. Bad. I was very disappointed with Vaccaro. He's turned out great fortunately. I also wouldn't give up on Jones developing into a good pass rusher for he steelers though.

Knew it would never happen, but man I waned him. He fit what this defense does so well. Vaccaro being such a baller mitigated that tremendously. Although I'd still love to have him as a nickel/3rd safety in this scheme.

What i was shooting for in this thread was at the time of the pick, of the players that were available who did ya want different?

Who wouldn't want Eric Berry? He was a top 5 pick tho and the Saints were at #32. That's kinda like saying I really wanted the Saints to get Eric Fisher or Joeckel last year. Nice idea, just not realistic.

2010 example- I dunno if PRob was on anyone's radar. My decrepit memory seems to recall that Sergio Kindle was prolly the most wanted among available players by STers. At the time I thought it would have been Brian Price (bust) or Daryl Washington (all pro & pro bowl 2012-13)

2006 - Wanted Reggie. Pre draft thinking he'd go #1, I wanted Vince Young.

2007 - Wanted Posluszny

2008 - Wanted Keith Rivers or Jerod Mayo

2009 - Did not want Cushing. Really really (did I mention Really) wanted Clay Mathews

2010 - Wanted Dexter McCluster

2011 - Was pleased with the Cam Jordan pick. Once we traded back in to the first I knew it was for Ingram a d liked that pick too (I was one of the knee jerking need a RB guys)

2012 - Screw you Roger. Liked the A. Hicks pick

2013 - Wanted Jarvis Jones bad. Didn't hate the Vaccaro pick. Even knowing we picked Vaccaro, I still wanted to find some way of getting TM7, really liked him but I had him eye balled for the third round.

2014 - Going on record for wanting either OBJ in the second or Landry in the third. I'll reserve the right to pick the first as free agency shakes out
