Currently slated to go around pick 20. I dont care what we have to do(trade back or just pick him with the 12th) but we need to draft him. The guy is a playmaker. He can not only rush the passer but plays the run just as well. He was a nightmare for Bama in the National Championship. He finished with 7 total tackles, 3 sacks and 2 additional TFL. He was camped out in the Alabama backfield all night. He finished the season with 23.5 tackles for loss with 12 of them being sacks, and tallied 62 total tackles. He may not be as highly regarded as Shaq Lawson, but he will probably be the better NFL player. Any team that passes on him will surely regret it. Im just hoping we do what we have to in order to get him.

If we trade back that would be good. This class is pretty deep with Dline and LB. I know people want a WR also, not sure how deep this class is with WRs.

Hope Treadwell is drafted way early where we can't get him, need a pass rusher.

really, there's not any area on the team, at this point, that we wouldn't be able to improve upon with the 1st rounder.... I'm praying we stockpile picks, because we have so many areas that need help, and honestly, it's a deep draft, though there's not really any headliners at QB to "sell" the class on....

basically, no matter where we go in the 1st round, no matter the position, it is pretty much an instant upgrade.....

The difference between a DLineman at 12 and 22 are pretty lateral. Even getting an extra 3rd in this draft helps

Treadwell will be gone before 12 imo.

I just don't get all the "take Treadwell" love.
We won it all without him but not with a sh!t show of a defense.
We need elite guards and a sound defense.
We are a hell of a long way from a sound "D".

My wish list is two road pavers at guard.
Upgrade DT.
Find one pass rusher at DE or LB'er.
And get a damn LB'er with cover skills.

Between FA's and the draft I hope the FO can get there.

I'm completely fine with double dipping at Dline with the first 2 picks.

Then go best value with WR and G with the next 2

We also need a WR, DT, OLB, DE, OG and probably a TE and CB. Don't be so myopic. Take BPA at any of those positions. If Treadwell is the pick, there should be no complaints. If it's Lawson, that's a great pick too.

Can't decide what I think about Dodd as a pro.

As a Clemson fan, what he did for us this year was absolutely sensational. Like you mentioned, he was absolutely dominat and arguably better than Lawson on the season as a whole (in part because Lawson was injured for the majority of the season).

However, he is the definition of a one-hit wonder. Granted we've had dominant DEs in front of him, but his single year of production is still concerning. He's also incredibly old for an early enrollee, I wanna say he's like 23.

I'll be pulling for him like crazy and part of me says he showed the dedication required to improve his game and commit himself, but another part of me wonders what took him so long.

this class is VERY VERY deep at DT.... and top heavy at every other position of need we have DE, LB, CB, WR, TE.

For that reason, we HAVE to pass on A'Shawn or Billings... and take a need player in the 1st. Jalen Ramsey will be gone. Myles and Laquon will be gone. DeForest Buckner will be gone. I'm starting to think we need to move UP! not down! ha

If we get to 12, and nobody big has fallen... we have to be the team to take a chance on Shaq Lawson. I'd rather it be him, than Mackenzie or Eli Apple...

Oh, Shaq is gone TOO?! Jesus. A non-Myles LB at 12? yuck right? well... if no-one wants to trade up.. this is our only shot at Darron Lee, Leonard Floyd or Jaylon Smith...

that still leaves great value on the board for us at DT with Austin Johnson from Penn State...LA Tech's Vernon Butler... in the 2nd... SOOO many Juniors declaring, you can even get down to the 3rd and 4th in this class at DT, and land former 5* still growing MooState DT, Chris Jones. Nebraska's Maliek Collins... a guy I love Adam Gotsis as late as maybe the 5th?!

Then we are taking CB/WR fliers in the 3rd/4th.
Rashard Higgins at WR...or even Bryce Williams at TE..
Artie Burns, Xavien Howard, Deiondre' Hall.. at CB

we need luck to be on our side this year. Hope Philly lets Bradford walk, and he signs with Cleveland... Then somehow Rams or Eagles fall in love with Wentz or Lynch, who falls to 12... and LA and Philly are bidding to move up ahead of each other. We are gonna need some help.

We don't need another WR in the first round. I don't know about you but I'm tired of watching our defensive struggles. Our defense has made most offenses look like All-Pro teams.

Look at Carolina, they have a bunch of nobodies and FA signees for their WR corps. Drew did well with the tools we have now on offense, now he needs help on the other side of the ball.

I think the argument some make, which is valid, is that the offense struggled without a big receiver who can fight for a 50/50 ball and a solid guard. Those two can be found easier than finding a dt or two who can push the pocket to help our DEs, another edge rusher (kikaha might be our guy realistically), a coverage olb who can stay healthy (Ellerbe and health?), a cb with high potential that can stay healthy if Lewis can't (not sure if pj can do it, swann has concussion issues now), and possibly a ss if Vaccaro can't play the traditional role.

I implore anyone who doesn't think we need a WR to go back and watch the all-22 tape from this year.

Our WRs cannot get open on the outside. EVER! It doesn't happen. Seriously. There is no physicality. There is no receiver on this team that will fight for the ball if it's in close proximity to the DB, so we just can't throw there unless they flat out beat the DB with speed, which is rare.

You're talking about losing an entire portion of the field as a passing option. A ton of routes. A ton of concepts. People think that we threw a billion screens this year because of bad playcalling - NO! It was because we have no one who is physical and can win fights on the perimeter. It's only going to get worse.

WR is our #2 need, behind DT/DE. Its close to being #1.

I would say guard is a bigger need than WR

Agreed. Don't want the Saints to turn into the '03-'05 Detroit Lions.

Kevin Dodd is someone I like a little later in the 1st round unless he blows up the combine. Ideally I would want to trade back for him.

Myles Jack is at the moment a top 10 lock. So until something happens I am putting him off our draft radar.

Other OLB options are rolling the dice on Jaylon Smith or perhaps looking into someone like Kamalei Correa in the 2nd-3rd rounds.

This a tough draft to access our needs until FA provides more clarity. However DE and OLB should be addressed early through the draft.
