quote:

What was your reaction to the decision to trade Jimmy Graham to Seattle: "I was heartbroken, because Jimmy's become a very close friend. We had five great years together, and I think just the the unexpectedness of it. We had big plans for the next few years and more so than anything else it's just not being able to see that guy every day. He's a joy to be around. He was great to play football with, but more importantly a great guy in the locker room. We had a ton of fun together. He's like a little brother. Obviously we just signed him to a big deal last year and you just have this long-term mindset with him. And then all of a sudden he's gone, the trade's made and listen I have full trust in this organization, Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton, and the direction that we're going. And you trust that but man, you're certainly going to miss a guy like that."

How convinced are you that before you retire you will win another Super Bowl? "I'm very convinced. It's what drives me and keeps me going. I love this game for so many reasons. The opportunity to have played it for going on 15 years is rare, it's unique. I want to continue to play for absolutely as long as I can, as long as I'm having fun, playing at a high level and maybe I'll stay healthy, why not play this game? It's a blessing. The challenges and the opportunities that come along with it each and every year, I don't know how you mimic this in any other element of life. My kids are getting to a certain age that they are really beginning to understand what their dad does and they can be a part of the day-to-day stuff. I can bring them into the facility on Tuesdays when I'm studying film and they can run around and we can run around the indoor (facility) and they can name all of the pictures of the guys on the wall and they can go to guys' lockers and high-five them. That's what it's all about. That makes we me want to play forever."

When we were here last year you said you think you could play until you were 45. "I said I think I could play until I was 45."

Oh, you're hedging now? "Do I think that's possible? Yes, absolutely. Could that happen? Yes. Would I love for that to happen? Yes. I'm not naïve to knowing that I'm on a series of one-year contracts, just like everyone else in the league. I feel like I can find that juice. I've got it. It's there. I'll keep having fun and keep slinging it around."

And how close do you think you are to achieving your goal of winning another Super Bowl? Do you think you have the team now that's capable of that? "I feel like we can build it. Yeah. Listen there's a lot fo work to be done. I'm not going to sit here in June and say that where we need to be. We still have a lot of work to do. I do feel like we have all the pieces in place. We have the ability to build the best team that we've had. It's not easy. It takes a lot of work, a ton of work. As long as we can maintain that mindset that we will continue to get better each and every day then we've got a shot."

I would hope so. If a QB doesn't think his team will win it all every year he is not doing his job properly.

Well it wouldn't sound too good if he said he didn't think it was possible.

"I get that I'm getting 20+M a year, but frick who am I fooling... our ceiling is the WC... Maaaaaaaaybe divisional round if we get some real breaks! "

What was he suppose to say? He was friends w/ JG, he loved having him as a weapon on the offense. Any QB will miss their favorite target.

That entire rant just read like that "Nice-Guy-Brees" bullshite he's always floating out. I love my man Drew, but that fake arse media persona he puts on is forever annoying.

What would anybody expect him to say?

How convinced are you that before you retire you will win another Super Bowl?
"Oh, there's probably no way. We're good with the one in 2009. I'll probably just mail it in until I'm 45 here..."

Can you blame him, though?

The media would pounce on anything less than a bland, innocuous comment.
Hell, he gets asked the same question 50x.

At least he doesn't sound as goofy and dense as Payton.
Uh-uh-uh-umm-umm-uh.
