In my humble opinion, Brees is elite but he's toward the bottom of the elite list.
His height and his lack of arm strength will always cause him trouble. Just seeing him have to get up on tippy toes to see over linemen and the lack of power on his deep ball has me shaking my head sometimes.
He has moments of pure greatness and then a moment where his brain turns off and he floats an interception to a defender. He gave the Pats 3 points today, thankfully because of the defense bailing him out (like they did all game).
I'd take Peyton, Rodgers, and Brady over him right now, in that order, and no one else.
So yes we have an elite QB, but we also played against a better one with a terrible supporting cast.

If we win this game, no one even thinks about making this thread. Everyone needs to stop being so reactionary.

This game reminded me of the Brees of last year the int was a wtf moment he gives us sometimes. I know no one is perfect but Brees is showing signs the last two seasons of being past his prime the window is closing on his career hopefully we get another super bowl out of his outstanding career with the saints

Saints are still going to win 12 or more games this year. even if they completely shite the bed and split the remaining games they would win 10 on the season.
this isn't college football where everyone should freak out if we lose one game where it could possibly ruin any chance of a title run.

Just fricking stop... Idiots running amuck..

I'm not freaking out but the offense and offensive play calling needs to get better. Our defense is 10,000 times better this season but we will need the offense to start putting teams away when the defense is giving them the opportunity to

What a fricking joke of a thread. Go DIAF.

He's had his moments this year when you say yes but his play today and this year overall have been slightly above average. He's missing wide open guys and under throwing receivers a lot like he's lost his rhythm or his arm is fading. I'm one of his biggest supporters but lately he's been average at best.....flame away
He didn't play well today...by his standards.
Having said that, he is clearly elite.

Clearly you didn't see that TD pass to Stills... It was a 40-45 yard pass with a margin of error about the size of a football.

Get the frick out of here.

Clearly you didn't see him forcing the ball into triple coverage trying to hit graham several times ,completely missed a wide open Watson at the goal line on one drive.so to you also. I love Brees I hope they get it right at least he took ownership of his poor decisions today

I hear you Burke.
I give the credit to New England's defense though.

Their defense played great but the plays were there and our o-line played fantastic I thought overall. Hopefully this loss will help us down the road in the tough games we have coming up. Don't sleep on Buffalo that will be a tough game too but one we should win. Hopefully the offense and Brees bounce back strong

NE has a good defense.
without Wilfork, we were able to run on them a lot more than we would have if he was playing.
my biggest concern about this team is the O-line.
especially in the middle.
I think we blow out the Bills though. The Jets game ought to be interesting with brother vs. brother.

see, that is where I think what they did early on in the game was so crucial on how the game shook out.
normally, we get off to a fast start but they were the ones who controlled the tempo early on.
also, we don't play them as much so their tendencies caught us off guard.

Probably true but play calling got so bad late as if Payton didn't trust Brees to make the throw to put it away at the end. Payton should have trusted his Elite qb to come up big at the end and seal the deal. I can't blame our defense they gave us every shot to put it away......oh well on to the next
