This is what I was thinking. I don't know of any QB's in the NFL who are completely accurate on long passes.

Ok thanks for the support and counter points. I am climbing down from the Huey P Long bridge with my Aaron Brooks action figure as I type this.

Didn't look under thrown, some of them were just being forced into tight windows that he just trusted the receiver to go after the ball and beat the db for the catch.

"Drew did not look like a $20M QB on the td pick"

No highly paid QB looks good on INT's.

Drew is imperfect, but if you can't see that allowing 568 yards was the real problem, then, well ...

Exactly. It is amazing that Drew's arm strength is what the armchair QBs find to be an issue.

90.9: Drew Brees’ completion rate while under pressure Pro Football Focus tracks throws under pressure, and Brees turned in one of the all-time great performances with defenders in his face. As a whole, quarterbacks completed 53.6 percent of their passes while under pressure in Week 1. Brees was at 90.9 percent, completing 10 of his 11 attempts.

I don't think most people are blaming that on the loss yesterday. Just an observation of something we've been noticing. I mean, the man is still throwing for over 5,000 yards a season, so there's no complaint there. But his underthrows on the deep ball have become more and more frequent.

Brees is gabage. Should be more like Dan Marini in my Bobby Hebert voice.

I guess if you don't count turnovers then you would be correct. While we put up a lot of yards, turnovers are a killer.

Its amazing how little some "fans" understand about football.

Whether we complete those long throws or not, we still need to take them. We need to stretch the defense for the rest of our offense to be efficient. If they don't respect the deep ball, the whole offense has more pressure.

Think Jordan Jefferson.

People will always find things to complain about, even with one of the best QBs in history in Drew Brees. He definitely threw those 3 or however many deep passes to Morgan in tight windows, all of which were defended pretty well. Morgan didn't have the best game either, so that definitely could have factored into those throws as well. At least we got a lot of good production from Brandin Cooks

I think Morgan had to come back a bit for one, but for the most part it looked like he missed his spots more than his passes were weak or underthrown. Could also be attributed to rust from his lack of preseason snaps. He looked pretty damned good to me, all things considered.

EDIT: Also, seems to me that on none of those deep throws was the receiver wide freaking open. When he badly underthrows a guy streaking down the field all by himself, I'll start to worry.

Brees and offense as a whole is NOT the damn problem! 34 points should win 9 outta 10 games

So we shouldn't take deep shots despite being the best in the NFL at it?
