Figured the double Sport's Illustrated covers were a bad omen...(was hoping the camp injury was his penance for that transgression.)

Apparently, the double whammy was enough to carry over to the other side of the ball as well. We can complain about play calling on O all we want but this defense has gone 0-3 in 3 opportunities to keep a team from scoring in the 2 minute drill at the end of halves/games.

And let's face it, letting Cleveland get in scoring position today at the end should count twice it was so poor. We constantly got out-schemed by freakin' Kyle Shanahan who was content to move the ball in 7 yard chunks all day with Bryan Hoyer at the controls. Chew on that.

Watching what Cincinnati did to Atlanta today also didn't help my thoughts on the matter any either. Geez...was expecting much more from this club.

Still a long season but it really appears that Carolina has the inside lane to be the first team to repeat as NFC South Champs. Let's hope our home dominance continues because having a winning record on the road this year appears to be a long shot at best.

Yep, they're (2-0). Carolina's division to lose for sure!

All you've mentioned but missed on the wizard of offense, Payton, getting schooled by the Brown's D, nit to mention our best ever QB once again giving up an interception that turns into 6 for the opposing team. It'll be a "Pucker Up" Payton year!

One team started 1-3 and another team started 4-0.

The 1-3 team went on to win the division.

I still have faith in going 8-0 at home

The first two drives' play calling was suspect at best...not sure if we even attempted a run. Problem is the offense finally gets settled in the 3rd, ripping off chunks on the ground and opening up passing lanes. We finally take lead and immediately let Cleveland re-take it on next drive. The D could not force a 3rd down stop. The 2nd corner spot will be attacked all year long it appears.

The O will have to play clean games for us to win on the road definitely...the two picks have been killers each week.

Nope. Not sure if they were designed run plays and Brees audibled into a pass - either way, Cleveland wasn't buying any of it.

I remember in 2011 when our offense was clicking, it was hard as hell to figure out what the play was going to be. Seems like I have each play pegged almost every down the last couple of years. Also, that faux-play action crap isn't working (where Brees kind of holds the ball out in an imaginary air-handshake) and then proceeds to either A) throw for a 1st down, B) check down after breaking a few tackles, C) gets clobbered as he throws the ball in the turf.

Although we still throw up points/stats, it seems d coordinators have a better read on what we are trying to do offensively. We are not two steps ahead anymore in play calling.

That being said I do expect this team to still be dominant at home. The problem is every season that we don't get home field you can point to 2 or 3 games that should have been won on the road but weren't. At the end of the year you look back and wish you could have those back. We already have two of those in our back pocket. Not much room for error down the stretch and we will need to beat Carolina in Carolina. Say what you want but that defense is legit.
