Bonethug, if Allen were immediately let go, who on the staff gets elevated?

Or, is there an outside candidate to right the ship?

I will laugh my arse off if Payton kept Allen after last season only to fire him after the first game. It would be quite fitting and a microcosm of Sean's tenure of late.

Mike Nolan. He did well as a DC and seems to have a much more reliable scheme.

I'd be fine with that.

Allen is starting to remind me of Spagnoulo.
Forcing his defense into schemes that don't fit and don't work, and never deviating.

Yup. Been saying that since he got here in 2015. Ryan took the fall for this assholes shite arse zone scheme.

Don't matter how many players we run through, they will all "suck" in Allen's scheme and take the brunt of the blame, when after 3 years it's clearly Allen's fault.

The next scapegoat for Payton and Loomis.

If Dennis Allen calls for a zone defense at any point during the rest of the season, you fire him on the spot and go with Mike Nolan. In fact, that should happen immediately anyway.

It honestly looked like the saints were calling coverages that they have never practiced before.

You can't run a zone if the players aren't confident that their teammates will be where they are supposed to be.

I like to hear different perspectives to see if I missed something or am not seeing something someone else saw. So please fire away. I'm legit curious.

I am talking in general with the game. I agree with your assessment in who would replace Alan. Reminds me of when we first brought Alan aboard himself.

How about 10 men on the field on the 1st defensive snap? Is that fireable?

You don't fire your DC after one game.

Maybe, but I don't think anyone would complain

This is not Allen's first rodeo. See exhibit A from last season.

Allen isn't going anywhere. Why even think of this hypothetical?

Happens every game. Looks good when you look at his stats at the end of the yr

Why are you spewing this media garbage narrative in your thread?

What perplexes me the most is that Allen played a ton of man coverage and ran A Gap Blitzes, cross dogs, all kinds of looks in preseason.

He did almost none of that in this game. It was a shitload of Cover 2 and zone looks that got destroyed.

Made no sense at all.
