I really do not want to give up any pics from this year draft but would offer a conditional #2 pic for '18 that could become a #1. See how Butler plays and what he does this year. I really don't think N E has teams beating down there door for this guy. Again, offer next years pic and stop being N E bitch.

no chance I give away a future 1st because w/ our luck we do and Drew goes on IR and we'll have a very high pick next season

Guys style of play is a big no no in the NFL.

Half of his hits are targeting

Eh. My thinking is it's best for both the Pats and Saints to wait for the pick (be it 32 or 42) to be on the clock to see what the options are.

You could be right on this. The frame work of the deal may be done and the ball may be in the Saints' court. You have 10 minutes between picks. I could see a scenario where the Saints start the clock and they know who is available. So then the question becomes a hard line decision. Maybe the Saints are sitting there and they are thinking I can trade #32 and get Butler or we can use #32 on Humphrey or White if they are on the board.

So maybe the Saints use the #32 to still secure a CB option and then we move to #42 which may not be enough, so maybe it is #42 and a 3rd next year. Maybe there is a player that the Pats want at #42 and that makes the trade easier.

In an alternate universe, the trade has occurred.

You'd rather spend 32 or 42 on an almost-guaranteed bust CB huh?
Disagree entirely with this statement. Previous draft choices and how they turned out shouldn't be a reference guide to how future picks/players will perform in the league.

I'll be happy with Butler for 32, and I'll be happy if we get a younger DB who can come in and improve the secondary. It's a win/win situation for us, as long as we don't get jobbed by the Pats front office in the process.

NE wants the 32nd pick lets get that established first.
They also want another pick, now at what value do you place him. If Saints don't give up 2nd ir 3rd round pick in addition to 1st. This deal ain't happening.
