Not a bad idea if the available talent is there. I think you're underselling Okafor though. Nice rotation always sweet. I wouldn't force it if there was a better value in the secondary or receiving Rb or TE there though.

I'm not opposed to doing that if the value is there. I don't like going in with a restriction like that, though. I want them to take the highest graded player available at our slots, with giving some though to need. If that is a DE at 11 and 32, do it. But if you're sitting there at 32 and have a higher graded CB or RB or something sitting there, I'd rather take that player. Good teams pick good players and don't force need.

If the FO thinks there is value in it then by all means do proceed. To me the only major priority on offence is a RT for Striefs spot.

What's the old saying, pass rush improves your secondary...

would Tre White be where he's at, if LSU didn't have Arden Key forcing the issue? You're not going to cover NFL receivers for 4-5 seconds with anybody.

Barnett at 11
Conley at 32
Baker at 42.

That's a pass rushing DE, a lockdown corner, and a playmaking FS that's flys all over the field.

I think we have to consider giving Ingram a backup a pretty heavy priority at this point, but this draft is so deep at RB and the FA market is stacked with guys who could do it, that I think unless a can't-miss player is available for us, we can afford to wait there.

So you're good with having a 32 year old wr who is primarily a return guy and Coleman as 2 of our top 4 WRs? That's pretty horrific depth/ pieces for a team who likes to spread the ball around. As constructed we are one Thomas , Snead or Ingram injury away from being pretty weak offensively. Especially when our so called receiving specialist running back is pretty crappy. Sure Brees will elevate the play of a lot of guys but that's asking a boatload from a guy pushing 40.

I guess I just feel like we need some more help on offense if we're really going to "win now". I feel like so much of the board contradicts itself by saying we need to win now by drafting primarily young defensive players that will likely have a few years until they are collectively truly up to speed but then states that we don't really need to add offensive players who historically in this regime contribute quicker.

The saints need help on the end position but I would like to see them solidify the secondary in the first round and focus on the end and linebackers position in the second and third round. They usually do well in the mid rounds picking up quality players on the offensive line and skill position.

We already have an anchor in Cam Jordan, and Rankins and Fairley showed the ability to hurry the QB from the DL, if nothing else. Im not saying rush end isnt a need, because it is. But we have no anchor to count on a CB

Breaux, PJ Williams, Sterling Moore, or Crawley. You also have Swann & DeVante Harris as options.

These are the guys were are counting on?
That's like saying, don't worry we have Tapp, Okafor and Kikaha

You ever hear of a coverage sack, boy?

Yeah but what's the frequency of a coverage sack vs a good edge rusher consistently disrupting a qbs timing? Would actually be a really good "study" for higher level stat guy to do.

That would be interesting

Von Miller was essentially a 1 man wrecking crew in DEN this year as far as getting pressure on the QB. The Broncos also blitzed nearly as much as we did (we were tops in the league, they were 3rd). Chris Harris and Talib were two of the three best CBs in the league last season, though.

Truth is, we need a little bit of everything. We need better CB play, we need another rusher on the line so as not to blitz as much, and we need to be more successful when we blitz - we had pressure on the QB 170 in 2,202 pass attempts against us - 79 came from Cam.

I would like to see us draft pass rush from two different levels:

In other words, a DE that can rush the passer as well as a LB that is an extremely effective blitzer (or to a lesser extent, a Safety).

Something like Haason Reddick/Jordan Willis would be pretty ideal to me.

Im on board with both, Bunchy

IMO we could clean up @ rusher and CB with out first 4 picks in the top 76, if we wanted to.

I would love to see something like:

1) Haason Reddick, OLB
2) Jordan Willis, DE
3) Chidobe Awuzie/Kevin King, CB

But the draft doesn't go like that. We will pick an offensive player or some position we don't expect with one of the first 3 picks I bet.

By the way, Reddick visited with the Jaguars today. They have the 4th pick. That really raised some eyebrows.

3 years of 7-9 7-9 and 7-9 I'm not f@cking good with anything about this team

Hell lets look at the few areas we need help with:

O-line depth and a new starting RT sooner than later.
Does anyone here feel 100% secure in our kicker next year?
Who do we have as a proven back behind Ingram?
Quality WR depth.
A quality TE.
More than one damn pass rusher.
A pass rushing LB'er that can play a full season.
CB's CB's and more CB's as we can't stay healthy there.

So we can argue over what position should come first in the draft and how often sure. But what we need are quality guys in almost any position who can play quality minutes.

Those who have locked in on certain guys or positions are the ones certain to melt on draft day.
