Alex Marvez of the Sporting News reports impending free agent LT Andrew Whitworth is expected to test the open market.

"Unless blown away by a massive contract offer from Bengals management, something he's unlikely to receive," Marvez qualifies before adding Whitworth wants to play for a "legitimate Super Bowl contender." This is a surprising report coming just hours after Whitworth told Marvez on the radio he would like to stay with the Bengals and beat writer Paul Dehner said he would be "stunned" if the two sides do not come to an agreement. It is possible this is just a negotiating ploy, but the 35-year-old surely knows his window for a ring is quickly closing. He might want to see what is out there before committing to the Bengals.

Would be a horrible allocation of cap space.

I'm pretty sure we don't need a 57 year old tackle.

Armstead and Peat can both play LT (and Peat's play actually picked up playing LT while Armstead was out).

So why the frick would we want a 35 year old LT. We need RG (power guard) badly, and very soon a RT. We need guys on the right with power.

You couldn't have played into that any better. We should try to pick up a player that we don't need at a position that is already a strength and neglect actually improving the team just so we can get an LSU player. You are the typical LSU fan saints board poster.

And Peat took over and did a fantastic job (you can see he's a natural LT by how much better he plays there).

LT is two really good players deep. Not a need at all.

We need guys to play on the right to replace Evans this year and Strief next year.

It's nice to have a guy like Kelemete that can be inserted into LG(or any O-Line position really) when Peat is forced to move to LT. I'm not very high on Lelito, but he's an ok backup at Center & is worthy of a roster spot.

Left side & Center seem to be fine at the moment. Like you said...that right side needs to be addressed if we want to keep up good O-Line play. Hopefully we address our major needs in free agency, which would allow us to draft a RT in about the 3rd round.

I believe Lelito is a FA and had fallen out of favor so I don't see him coming back.

No.

We need to focus on guards, not tackles.

He is a 25 year old franchise LT that we are paying franchise LT money to. You don't bring in someone like Whitworth for depth.

Especially when you have starting holes at guard, DE/OLB, MLB, and corner to fill
