Great post. But you should bump up Anzalone to C+ just for the nickname.
Expect to be flooded with the obligatory "Saints should have taken Beckwith because he's an LSU guy".

It's all good. We are all pretty passionate. None of us knows how it's going to work out, but we can hope for the best.

As for Beckwith, I don't know where he would fit in our system if they would've got him. He played Mike for LSU and we have 2-3 guys who are or were mikes before.
It may sound strange but I think he'd actually fit best as a 3-4 OLB. In 2015 Kevin Steele sometimes let him line up there and he was pretty damn good in pass rushing situations.

I think he would get exposed against the pass in that situation(he would wreck shite against the run though). He's pretty much a 2 down thumper at MLB in the NFL imo. He is a good pass rusher for a MLB. Underrated in that department.

think it's probable that this will be the case in a couple of years. Not saying he will be as good, but the ceiling of Kamara & McCaffrey is something close to Marshall Faulk.
Front office wanted him pretty bad to trade a second for a third, even though the price to do so was inline. The highlights of the A&M game was pretty amazing. He did everything, run through the line, around the perminter, screens, came back to the QB for a safety, ran routes, pretty amazing.

Did you look at the A&M game, wow.

All good. I know we had our arguments. Good post. Think we both want sane end result. Success for saints

exactly... and he's not the quickest in terms of diagnosing the play... he may end up around the ball, most of the time, but it may be 10 yards down the field, as he may initially have gone the wrong direction...
as much as i loved watching him at LSU and all, i'm glad the Saints didn't pick him... that being said, i hope he does have a good, injury free career....

I'd love to get him matched up against Kamara in the passing game when we play TB. Talk about a mismatch.

Well I'd definitely limit his coverage to hook/curl/flat and just tell him to jam the hell out of a TE and chase. I think his experience at DE would help. I think the Buccaneers plan on putting him at SAM an letting him wreck shop. I agree that he's a 2 down linebacker but his speed is definitely underrated.

6 actually, and Payton says he can see Analzone playing all 3 spots.
Robertson last year. Anthony the year before. Ellerbe in Miami.Te'o in SD. Klein in Car. Stupar in Atl (and may have taken some there with us before we moved Robertson there.
So all of our LBs could potentially be the Mike.

The Safety we drafted will be a stud. A+ pick, don't give me that B+ garbage!

I don't doubt he'll be a good player.

Good rebound from an excellent melt
His college numbers aren't impressive, because Tennessee focused on Hurd for awhile. But that means Kamara has a lot less wear and tear on his body than you might expect, and that will likely pay dividends for the Saints.
I think he'll turn out to be the best back chosen this draft.
Fournette doesn't see the holes sometimes, he doesn't have a passing game to take the heat off of him, he plays too physical and has already begun to get dinged up. He'll make some big plays, but I think his career is going to be pretty short.
McCaffery doesn't strike me as a primary back, and Cam's not a QB that can truly exploit a guy like that as a receiver. Seems like a bad combination for those two.
Not sure I like Cook's situation with the Vikings, they have problems on offense that aren't going away soon. And I just don't expect Mixon will last too long in Cincy.
In comparison to all of the above, Kamara is fresher, comes into the best offense of the bunch, and has the benefit of easing in to learn the game awhile, without being thrown to the wolves early. I expect he'll become the feature back in a couple years, when Fournette is beginning to wear down, Mixon is maybe out, and McCaffery has transitioned to WR for the Pats or Colts.
quote:I'm gonna go A on this move, maybe A+. Kamara CAN be the "satellite back" (when the hell did Payton think that term up?), but he's big enough to be the feature back too. And, he's talented enough also.
Alvin Kamara - I was fine with this pick at the time as well but the luster of having a "satellite back" taken at such a high cost (through the trade) has worn off. I think Kamara can be an excellent back, especially in Payton's system, but I don't know if the ends will justify the means. Kamara is ridiculous at times on game film with his speed, burst, agility, elusiveness, etc and hopefully he can be the guy we've lacked in this offense.
Grade: B-

upvote for sounding sincere. I still hated your face all weekend and I don't even know what it looked like, but I hated it regardless. New day today

A big IF...
If Anzalone can stay healthy, he is oozing with quality starters potential
That will look like a much better pick

Kamara can be great pick bc we didnt have pass catching back in the backfield last year that did well. Cadet seemed to drop alot. It will go a long way in picking up some of cooks receptions we will miss. Also think Fleener will have much better season
