Shows McShay, Kiper, CBS, NFL, SI, etc.

Consensus Pick at 13: Randy Gregory.

Consensus Pick at 31: Dorial Green-Beckham.

I'd be fricking ecstatic with these 2 picks but I don't think the Saints would make them because of the character issues and I'm not even sure either player will be there at those picks.

Lots of Bud Dupree @ 13 picks as well. Kiper has
quote:

13: Brandon Scherff OT, Iowa.
31: Breshad Perriman WR, Central Florida.

I'd be cool with those as well, but I'd rather a different WR at 31.

Not sure why they think taking a corner at 31 is a WTF pick. Browner doesn't have a game that will age gracefully IMO and after he and Lewis we're down to hoping for quantum leaps from a lot of guys.

Outside of RB, C, S, QB, or K/P I don't think anything would be stunning in the early rounds.

T as well, unless it's someone we are converting to Guard.

Strief and Armstead are locked in

High probablity: LB, G, WR, DL.

Wouldn't be surprised: CB, T (converting to guard)

Depends on value and somewhere in the 3rd or later: QB, RB (if he fits the receiving back type of mold/return ability)

Would be surprising: S, C, FB, K/P

look at DGB as a short term investment, with the window closing fast we only have to keep him sane for 1 maybe 2 years before we blow it up anyway

Brees is at his best when he has a solid pocket to step into. Hell the Saints were at their best when they had 2 absolute studs and 1 solid player in the middle of the OL.

Drafting Collins gets you back to that IMO.

I'd rather them go OL then LB. Take a WR later

If Collins in there, I hope we jump all over him unless one of the stud OLBs is available.

Collins is a true LT. I dont think he'll be there at 13. Sure, he can play G for the Saints, I just think someone will take him before for LT.

Doesn't really have the ideal arm length to be an "ideal" LT. I think he would do well there. But his measurabled accompanied by his mean streak and superior run blocking ability screams LG. He would step in right away there.

Most people consider scherff the more surefire tackle as opposed to Collins. I'm honestly torn on grabbing a stud wr, OL, or old/de with the first pick. Tomlinson and cann look like great options later I'm the draft, but the potential of a zach Martin for us would be crazy

That's terrible logic and we don't have to "blow it up" as we'll be more than fine once Brees is off the cap.

I wouldn't be upset with DGB @ #31, but I think if we take a WR early, it would be someone more polished than he is.

I saw this on the Twitter-verse the other day, and thought it was interesting.

Agree. You can get a good quarterback from late first till later picks. Not every star QB is a top 5 pick. Think first 3 picks will be a WR, LB and OL. We have no true #1 WR, colston is wearing down, cooks has the potential. LB without saying! OL cause strieff up in age, Evans on way out and Lelito?

It's not just that. It's the fact that you only "blow it up" if you purge the roster of all the big cap hits in one year and have a ton of dead money. Instead we are systemically trimming the big salaries a few at a time the last two years while keeping most of the young core intact with a few vets.

At this point there isn't going to be one all in year where the next year we have to dump(could still happen but it hasn't yet). So it makes no sense to treat the draft as a one or two year window when we are clearly still building for the future as well as now. You approach every pick as if they are (hopefully) in your plans long term.

I am convinced I'll be long dead before the Saints manage to draft a successful CB in the first round. Hell, draft one period.

^THIS^

Yeah I would rather take the approach of building the team from the inside out.

unless Scherff is available at 13, I have an unreasonable desire for collins. He just seems like a player that is nearly impossible to be a bust. People talk about players' ceilings. I think collins' absolute floor is an above average starting guard for numerous years. I think he missed one game at LSU his whole career. He took out injury insurance both his junior and senior years. Came back and played his arse off and likely moved up at least ten spots in the draft. He already approached his last year at LSU like a professional.

Or maybe our 1st round draft history has just given me bustphobia

Do we need a corner we got a lot of them on our roster I don't see a need there no more.I think draft will go like this if no trades happen.
1.pass rusher
1.online
2.tight end
3.wr
3.qb
5.linebacker
5.linebacker
6.o line
7.pass rusher
7.corner
