Dell was more interested in selling than buying at the deadline, so I doubt he was interested. But don't get me started on the trade deadline. Makes me mad just to think about it

The counter argument would be: How many centers with post moves did you see effect the playoffs this year? Also, this team is already terrible defensively. Adding Okafor might make it historically bad

Not saying it would be an awful trade. Just stating the counters

True but other than Dunn in this draft, there aren't any other players that are known for their defense ( Murray and Hield). I think okafor has the ability to improve on defense tho considering he's only 20. By yeah it's all personal preference

Imagine if Minny Traded #5 for Okafor. Put towns at the 4 on O and 5 on D and that could be a hell of a team. A good zag type of move if Thibs wanted to go that way.

Rubio
Lavine
Wiggins
Towns
Okafor

After a year or two of Thibs coaching, that lineup will frick the rest of the league in the arse

The west is just gonna get better and better.

A lot of people really liked Greg Oden's upside if he could stay healthy. Not saying Embid has the same fate. But if he's already having trouble staying on the court, it's not a promising sign. And if I were the sixers I wouldn't take that gamble

Yup. I don't think he and Davis really fit on offense that well either, unless they just want Davis to shoot jumpers

Not interested unless they are taking Asik or Evans or both. I would do Noel for Evans straight up in a heartbeat. Sixers won't go for that.

When Ryan and I used to talk about adding Boogie if we could, I always landed on no because in my research, I couldn't find elite teams with two high usage bigs. And Okafor is just a poor mans Boogie IMO

Yes and anyone that says no doesn't know how good Okafor will be. He is be perfect compliment to AD. He is a 20-10 player with a very good FG%. He is a great post up player and would stretch a baseline defense and open up the other side for AD and vice versa.

The Sixers are crazy but I understand why they would want to chase two players in this draft.

You can't play a big who is unable to defend on the perimeter late in games. You just can't, hence why nobody does it. And again, show me a contender with two high usage bigs in the last twenty years. It just doesn't happen

He's a good player, could be very good, but not the guy you want to put next to AD IMO

Adams is mobile enough to defend on the perimeter- think of his signature play vs SA. Ibaka obviously can too

And they don't have two high usage bigs if that was what you referring to either

Pau Gasol and (sort of) Bynum too. The Marc Gasol/Zach Randolph combo could have won a title if the front office had done more to surround them with shooters.

The entire concept of anyone being a bad fit next to AD is somewhat absurd. Transcendent players fit with everyone.

Once Duncan blossomed, Robinson wasn't as high usage. Also, that duo won because the defense was amazing- something you won't get with Okafor

First, you have to question if Memphis was ever really a contender. Second, AD and Okafor's usage rates are much higher than Zach and Gasol

And you are right, nobody is a bad fit with AD. It's the difference of ideal vs good. In this NBA, AD is gonna finish games at the 5 unless you have a guy who can defend with mobility and hit the mid range shot who is 7 feet, 250+ next to him

So if given the choice of adding Okafor, who likely wouldn't finish games, and a guard who would, it would probably be wise to go with the guard

Well yea, I'm separate teams.

Randolphs went down a good bit from Portland to Memphis. Something has to give

Okafor would step all over AD's blossoming offensive game. Pels need a 3pt shooter. Okafor would be the worst possible outcome.
