Actually we do. Reke should be starting over Aminu. It isnt even debatable.

With no Ryan Anderson, in this situation, then our bench would be terrible.

Roberts
Morrow
Babbit/Aminu
Ajinca
Steamer as our bench?

I agree. I liked the Holiday and Evans moves this summer. I have not liked the way either guy has been used for the most part.

I thought we would see a different scheme- more ball movement, quicker pace, better spacing, more freedom and spontaneity. In other words, playing to the strengths of the roster.

Tough to judge due to injuries but I have not been terribly impressed with what I've seen.

Teke mentioned him earlier and I agree; SVG would be a great fit with this roster.

To tigerinATL: I'd get rid of Monty a 1 of our 3 guards (JH/EG/TE) for a 3 or 5.

To whoever said "because he got hurt", No. we can find another pg to do the job. Just look at some of the bigs we've tried: Arinze O, Lou Amundson, Lance Thomas, Alexis Ajinca, Jason Smith, Jeff Withey, Steimsma to name a few.. NONE of them (maybe J-Smoothie) would get significant minutes on a championship team.

Fact is, we wanted a guard, so instead of drafting one, Burke, MCW, McLemore, KCP, we traded 2 first round picks, a good Lopez contract, and a good Greivis contract. All to upgrade PG and have a 6th man in Evans. I just don't think a good point guard is worth that much...
And I hate to be that guy, but Jrue is not great. He's in the 8-12th range.

and he's the 11th highest paid PG in the league...

Has anyone said "stay healthy" yet? Because, if not, I'm going to say the solution is to stay healthy.

If we had the miracle season from a health perspective that the Blazers are currently having, we'd be a playoff team.

Rookies are about $8M cheaper. I'd much rather a rookie talented guard with Al Jeff/Al Horford type guy to pair with AD than a pretty good PG and glaring holes in the paint.

Pels players have missed the second most time in the league due to injury. Behind only the Lakers.

How did you find that? I couldn't find a listing. It's not hard to believe. Where are the Bucks on the list? They have had 11 players start 10 or more games for them and only one guy has played in every game. They have 7 guys on the injury list right now (LINK )..

Damn.. I didn't realize Kevin Martin broke his thumb Friday night. Didn't seem that bad on tv. Minnesota has it bad too. Pek and Martin out. Love just getting back.

Someone on reddit posted it a while back. Id imagine it hasn't changed much. T wolves have a bad history of injuries. They had the most last season by far.

Trade Gordon to Charlotte for Ben Gordon's expiring contract and Bitchsmack, as Biyombo can either be a bench body or can be flipped to someone who wants a project or a $4m expiring contract for matching purposes.

please let this happen...ideal situation, imo

are we watching the same games? that kid is all over the court, harassing, hand up, and challenging shots. Is he a defensive stalwart? No, but he is active, and has shown a desire to actually play defense.

I don't disagree with this. It's not his talent that I like so much, it's his versatility and fit. Tony Parker is a fringe MVP candidate these days, not because he's one of the more talented players in the league, but because he runs that well oiled machine so well. I can see Jrue reaching a similar level after enough time with Davis and a complimentary core/system.

Unless you want to move on from Ryan Anderson, we can't afford a big money center long term, it would just skew the salary too much kind of like how the roster is unbalanced now at guard. Al Horford is one of the few in the league that would work simply because he's well rounded enough that you can get away with a 3 man rotation up front. There are very few big money bigs that I think would work out any better than our 3 big money guards.

What type of system/core do you think fits Holiday best?

I'm pretty meh on him in the Paul/Vasquez offense engine role we've seen so far.

This doesn't answer your question specifically for Holiday, but what I would love to see more of is ball movement like San Antonio does. The question is how do you do that with Tyreke unless he's playing the Tony Parker break down the defense role. But that could work because part of what makes Holiday good is he can play off ball or run the offense. Reke and AD play pretty well off of each other in the lane and he's an adequate passer. Replace Aminu with Martell Webster like Dell tried to do and maybe things look very different this season.

Tyreke
Jrue
Webster
Anderson
Davis

We'd need some better passing big men to see the ball movement San Antonio has, but I agree that offense is one to strive for.

Dump Rivers, Gordon, Aminu, & for lack of a better term, our "coach".

Call up P. Jackson.

Get healthy.

Find a damn 3, someone who comes off the bench to hit an open 3, and some role players.

Championship !!!!

I like this reasoning. We all know where Monty's roots are, and perhaps his plan was/is to evolve Jrue into a Tony Parker.

Sometimes it just takes patience. I think Dell jumped the gun on this one. Jrue/Evans are costing us ~$21M. Meanwhile, Al Jefferson was sold to Charlotte for $13.5M, and Millsap to Atlanta for $9.5M. Millsap and Jeff and just a couple of examples though. There will be more players moved soon that could have fit in our rotation had we been more patient. The roster simply doesn't work for Monty's style of play. I could see it working better if he would adapt to our players a bit, but he's too stubborn to do so.
