It's a shame, really. All of this could be avoided if you had the intellect to properly infer from my initial post that this team is still very much a work in progress.

So because I don't agree with you in terms of a potential prosperous future, I don't have the intellect... got it.

I bet you are a riot at parties.

UP, he can't make points... He just runs down other posters, twists words, accuses others of doing what he does

But your point was easily understood. Journey of 1000 miles and all that. Very reasonable.

I thought the team would end up over 0.500 with reasonable health, so that is where we disagree, and therefore, I must insult you (I think). Oh well!

I am (a riot at parties). And I know the guy is just dicking around. It's the price of posting at TD. But it's funny to see him try to validate his trolling by essentially asking 'u mad bro/y u changry?'

You do realize you just described yourself, right?

As for the point of the work in progress, yes this team is definitely a work in progress, but you can't tell me that the FO did not try to make a "win now" splash this offseason with the traded draft pick and Evans signing.

Because of injuries and losing a few games that they weren't supposed to lose to, this team is on pace to finishing in the worst possible spot, no playoffs, no draft pick with little cap room to boot. There is not a whole lot that can be done this offseason.

But, hey, I just twist words around and don't bring anything, so what the frick do I know, right?

The only bright spot is that we are one of if not the youngest teams in the NBA.

This is being overblown. Houston made the playoffs with the youngest roster in the league last year and Harden didn't even join the team until the weekend before the season started.

eta: I realize I shouldn't judge other teams success based on the success of a championship winning franchise, just pointing out that young teams can win in todays nba.

And how often do you see teams go from the very top of the lottery (picking 1-5 assuming they didn't get extremely lucky with a 1% chance like the Orlando Magic back in t3h day) to contending for a 3-6th seed in their conference the next season? In acquiring talent to field a contender it's going to be a steady curve and not an instantaneously vault from bottom feeder/tank commander to title contender. The Pelicans are now in the middle of that journey. Unfortunately I won't be supplying diagrams or pictures to help convey this point.

I'm not sure how a fact like that can be 'overblown.' Every team/set of players is different. Houston's personnel is not New Orleans' personnel. So… yes… the fact that the Pelicans have a very young core group of players is a positive.

Who said anything about contending for a 3-6 seed?

Again, who was expecting them to be a serious contender this year?

The problem is that the difference from last year's team in terms of on court quality is negligible at best and it comes with a much bigger payroll and not nearly as much flexibility.

Agree to disagree. They tried to accelerate the speed of the journey this past offseason and you can not tell me these were the expected results.

Ah, just when I thought you would be able to keep the doucheness out of a post...

I treat fellow posters as they deserve to be treated.

Was this a little dig? Adorable. Rockets have won a total of two titles in their franchise history at a time in which most of the posters here were probably still in diapers. We aren't talking about the Lakers or Celtics here.

It's cute that you have such a high opinion of yourself on a message board.

Everyone 'decides' how they treat other people every day. I'm not sure how that is pretentious.

You also decided to totally ignore my counter points and simply go with a meme by quoting "ironic".

Y'know, something that you chastised me for. Head in the sand...

At least maybe we'll get to keep that top 5 pick!

The East is pretty awful, so perhaps the bottom out there will balance out with the middlers. Out West, LAL and Utah are the only teams worse than us at this point imo.

Keeping that pick is not a far-stretch
