Ish is a ball dominant guard that can't shoot. Where does he fit in if the Pels have Tyreke, Jrue (when he's off of a minutes restriction), and Cole? Tyreke will probably be the main facilitator when he is in the game, and Jrue should be the main facilitator when Tyreke isn't in the game (and some when Tyreke is in the game).

In the event they are both on the bench, I would trust Cole more than Ish.

I hope you're right about ajinca but 4 yrs on that contract may make that less likely, we will see I guess. if he can bring back a contributor that would be nice

I think so too. I do think as other 5s cash in with the spike, his contract will age nicely. Of course, he can't play any defense in space so I don't know if he will ever be that attractive.

Im grasping at straws here because I was fairly confused by resigning both Asik and Ajinca this summer too. I understand the cap situation made running it back the best option, but I would have preferred taking a flyer on a wing body or a more mobile big v Ajinca. He's useful on offense, but he is a problem on defense. As the league goes smaller and quicker, there aren't as many places to hide him. Sounds similar to Anderson, but Ajinca ain't as good as Anderson on either end. It makes playing your 2 backup bigs together akin to self-immolation.

there just are t many teams anymore whose second units require the pels to play a traditional center. i don't think the Spurs ever played a real center the other nite until garbage time

it's jarring how little need the pels have for a 5MM backup center unless asik gets hurt and even then they are reluctant to play ajinca for good reason. I think it's clear they don't trust him, and their best lineups are all 3 guards plus Davis/Anderson/Cunningham (or pondexter). Until they get a real wing defender that looks to remain the case

considering the lack of depth at 2/3 it just makes no sense to me

oh well

You're letting yesterday's market affect today's decisions. It seems like a lot, but $5MM is the new $3MM. It's less that what the tax MLE would be naturally. The length of the contract is a bigger issue. They should have done 1 year and free it back up for the bonanza this offseason.

agreed and I made that point earlier
length of his deal is puzzling at best and may make it difficult to move him
although with the rise in the cap hopefully that is mitigated
as a poor fit for this team though his money certainly could have been used elsewhere as right now he is a wasted roster spot on a paper thin team

anyway, come back soon reke
