I think people get stuck on the names of positions. He's a guard that can get to the rim at will. Who cares if he's called a shooting guard, point guard, zero guard? He's a player that excels with the ball in his hands. When he's on the court with Holiday, they share ball handling duties.

This is a playoff caliber team that could make some noise. It's no golden state, but that is a pretty solid roster with depth we haven't seen in years. I'd love to see this happen somehow.

Yeah, it's not like that's a real solid number, either. He is 110/206 on layups

Around the rim shots technically (within 3 feet). Most probably lay ups. I'd bet 50 of those were point blank misses

Yep

"At the rim"

5 for 5 on dunks

110 for 206 on layups

0 for 1 on tip shots

Doesn't look like anything is happening:

Mekel move was partially financial, have not ruled out bringing him back. Him coming in stirred the pot, though that was not intended.

Coach also said of Mekel that they brought Mekel in to get a look, are going in a different direction, but liked what he brought to the team

Touche... But that's why he goes to the rim. He attempts 59% of his shots < 3 feet.

He is also shooting his 2nd highest 3 pt % in his career. That's why 17% of his shot are coming from there.

Agreed. Tyreke Evans was 4th in the whole league on shots attempted in the restricted area last season and that was with missing 10 games.

The other 3 guys in front of him in that category include Power Forwards or Centers and are 6'10" or taller and weigh 30-60 lbs more than Evans.

Obviously, he led all guards last season with shots in the restricted area and made 53% of them.

FYI: In 66 games Anthony Davis was 17th on that list and made 67.6% of his shots in the RA.

I'd like to assume they mean he made Rivers and Jimmer compete harder. Rivers has played better since they got Mekel, Jimmer not so much.

I definitely think that's what he meant. Other players saw they weren't happy with the backup PG situation.

I just want to know the different direction they are going.

Dont get me wrong, i think evans is great at getting to the rim. I was mainly illustrating the point that I would rather him handling the ball/leading the 2nd unit than be in the starting lineup that would essentially feature 1 true long range threat (Green, in that hypothetical). i think evans usage rate translates better to leading the 2nd unit, he can be "the guy"

I think we all agree with that.

The problem is Evans DOESN'T WANT to do that. He was a pouty little B last year, apparently. He's just not comfortable or happy in that role. A great, respect coach like Pop could make it work and talk sense into him. I don't think Monty can.

Gal Mikel, the most expensive motivational tactic for Austin Rivers available.

I'm not sure Monty even knows how to use a computer.

If Monty had access to the Internet he wouldn't be the only one not realizing there's a problem with his rotations. I don't think I've ever seen the word stagger used so much in my life.
