the advocate has been crushing the T-P on pelicans coverage for a while now, but for all its self-inflicted wound the T-P is still the news of new orleans

man i hope they step up and cover the team like it deserves to be covered

Haven't been told anything, but it looks like Jimmy Smith cleared out his Twitter bio. Take from that what you will.

it's already been reported that pretty much the whole prep sports staff (both full and part timers) are gone

ETA: and the TP won't have a dedicated Tulane beat writer

freelancers... much like myself... except I go for the Advocate when they need me (I can provide links to prove too)

ETA: it'll be breaking stories... like a coach getting canned or leaving... that'll see the most impact of these lay-offs

Ken Trahan already destroys them on that... SportsNOLA is/was/and will be the best prep source

Yeah, I know how it works... I thought you were referring to "part-timers" as freelancers.

As part of shakeup, per @NOLAnews source, staff was was informed a few weeks ago there would no longer be a dedicated #Tulane beat reporter

You guys have 3 great blogs, The Advocate is killing it, and Reid is still there.

A virus was cut out. You don't need him replaced. There is so much great Pels content as is.
