This is why Griff shouldn't have been so boisterous in the offseason

He went to bat for Gentry from the start, and now it looks pretty foolish.

Claiming jrue could be an mvp candidate this season was up there with the worst comments in the history of sports

This team also does bow down to the competition in the end and then lets them come inside their locker room. The good news is the young guys are good and have a future but they need a real leader to be able to win.

Perhaps that was Griffs way of settling up Jrue to see if he coukd handle the roll.

I want to believe he is the guy but he’s struck out time after time in a short period

He hasn’t struck out on anything.
Did people really expect to win a ton of games this season?

They are on pace for 25 wins. That’s well below expectations.

They’ve lost games they shouldn’t

He cleaned house of just about everything surrounding this franchise, except the perennial loser coach. It makes zero sense

If the team made the playoffs and took the finals to seven games in June, I’d bet someone would bring up that
locker room visit as the reason we
didn’t take home the O’brien. I swear.

What makes zero sense was expecting anything more than a bubble team under ideal circumstances. And these circumstances have fell well below ideal.

Griffin was never going to say differently, but the idea a bunch of 1-3 year players and a couple vets were really going to be a second round team in this tough west was silly.

....But to this idea others are stating that Griff has struck out everywhere, just lol. I was a huge skeptic of Griffin, but there is really nothing he hasn’t done right except overstate his PR. And whether that is a problem will be decided with how well he cleans it up.

Come on man.

They transformed this franchise from a complete Mickey Mouse operation into an actual NBA franchise. Think about the team structure and FO before and after.

Think about the scouting, training, people involved.

Look at last year’s roster and depth and then look at this one.

Now think about some context. Two teams have had by FAR the most difficult schedules in the league, us and the Hawks. Our schedule has been BRUTAL. But after the new year there is a long stretch where it is exceedingly softer. The Lakers for instance have started with the easiest schedule in the entire league. Hmmmmm.

Relax. You know how much I despise Gentry as a coach and question that move, but Griffin has been fine and obviously we need to give any FO at least 3 years before we can properly assess.

I think some folks deluded themselves into thinking this was anything more than a full rebuild. The impatience I’ve seen with this team has been pretty ridiculous considering the injuries.

Lester, usually you dont make such dumb comments. Striking out would require multiple swings, striking out again and again, would imply multiple swings at multiple things and failing at everything.

Your first justification is the win total being below projections in year 1, 20 games in. C'mon man

He did his job hyping up the organization to the fan base and the media and it help sold the product with the season tickets increase. But seriously, I think he’s an overly optimistic guy who gets super excited. That’s going to be his nature and I don’t see that wearing off anytime soon.

It’s not a full rebuilt. If it truly was, then Holiday, Redick, and Favors wouldn’t be here in the first place. We’d be developing Hayes, NAW, and all the young guys right now.

They intended to try to win and develop at the same time. Things haven’t worked due to injuries and the poor play by our vets to end games.

I won’t believe we are in development mode until they play the young guys heavy minutes on a nightly basis.

Young guys will play win ready. You don’t just throw them on the court prematurely. Yes, I think they ant to win to some extent this season, but I don’t think they’re looking for too much from the first half. Maybe after the ASB.

Don’t buy that. Hayes is a prime example of a kid who was supposed to be redshirt this season and only got minutes because of injuries. And his development has been rapid because they were forced to play him too “early” and he’s developing with game experience.

Circumstances dictated that Hayes get out there. NAW, if anything, will be a long term project. There are times when I would prefer that Jackson be in the court.
