Is that we actually are trying to win. I'm sorry I couldn't help myself from making another post but this team isn't simply "tanking". They are just a very very badly coached and undisciplined team that is trying very hard. They are trying to win games but they just can't, even against one of the worst NBA teams, the Lakers at home.

They let Kobe walk up the court and did not touch him in order to foul him at the end of the game with 21 sec left. They waited until 4 seconds left to finally decide to foul Kobe after gentry was screaming and hollering. That really is sad to see guys. That is 0 discipline, 0 coaching, and 0 IQ. That is middle school level thinking.

There is no happy ending for this season. The Pelicans actually are trying hard and as sad as it is they are playing to win, but my god are they bad.

You tell me. What's worse? Getting swept in the playoffs and losing by 20 ppg or worse, OR getting a pick outside the lottery that we will end up trading anyways. That is what to look forward too now.

It's pretty bad at this point. I try to shy away from the terrible record and think that we can somehow salvage this season, but it's out of reach now. I want what will better this franchise and I am now willing to sacrifice whatever that takes.

ETA: Give us a lottery pick. Thanks.

How do you explain the last 20 seconds of the game? After EVERYTHING that happened. 21 seconds left. The lakers dribble the ball without a Pelicans player even ATTEMPTING to foul them when we're DOWN 2. How do you possibly explain that. They let 17 seconds run off before the realIzed, "oh shite! We need to foul guys!" Gentry meanwhile is screaming on the sidelines to foul.

That is simply unexplainable. Kobe even missed a god damn free throw but we were forced to jack a 3 bc we didn't foul when we let 17 seconds run off the clock.

It's just that sad. It's middle school now. I've never been so embarrassed honestly. We aren't tanking or else we would not be playing D, but we are. We're trying so hard that it makes it even more sad. I'm sad.

I already mentioned gentry was screaming at them to foul. Point is, like it always has been and what I referenced to earlier is simple. This team has no IQ, no discipline, and no coaching as a whole.

Yeah it could have been "more" on the players, like for example missing 2 fast break dunks IN THE 4TH QUARTER that could have brought the lead to 3. There were a lot of stupid shots, etc. but at the end of the day if your Alvin Gentry how do you not communicate with your team in some way that you need to foul. Whether you have a timeout or not, how in the world do you not relay the message to your team that you need to foul. That is inexplicable. THATS on Alvin Gentry.

The fact that none of the players really even realized they needed to foul goes back to my IQ point. They have none. No coaching, no discipline to implement or even accept the coaching, and hardly any IQ outside of AD to realize you are down by 2 points with 21 seconds left and you do not have the basketball.

The players and coaches are both to blame. So is the management for not blowing this garbage up before were stuck with more mediocrity.

Gonna disagree, the players are the one who execute the coach's plan.

During the early part of the home-stand, and pretty much when Reke has been out, they executed the system to perfection. Good ball movement, unselfish play, finding the open man, and knocking down good shots while getting back into their defensive sets quickly.

Last few games you see a selfish PG who handles the ball way too much taking shots without setting up his team first and foremost.

If you're referencing Cole I agree. That is on the player. When Tyreke comes back do you expect anything better? Tyreke Evans is the teams lowest IQ basketball player and he happens to play the PG position. Him nor Cole are capable of running the offense. Ish smith was 10 times better off but nobody would ever seem to agree with me on that.

Regardless of everything. The missed wide open fast break dunks, Kobe going full throwback Thursday mode, bad calls, everything. Regardless of everything, Alvin gentry has to tell the players to foul if they aren't smart enough to realize it themselves.

Rajon Rondo is a FA this year, I wonder how much he will demand. i think he would excel in this system.

So you're sticking with the "blame the coach even with the players clearly fricking up" bit huh? Interesting.

I'd love to see a clean sweep and JVG or Thibs come in this summer, but what's more likely is Demps will be the fall guy and they'll repeat the sins of the past and hire a GM to fit with the coach. Hiring a GM from the 2 time defending champs should seem like a good move though. One thing about Gentry is that he will listen to others unlike Monty, so if you beef up his staff you might be able to make up for whatever his deficiencies are.

On the plus side, Gentry has exposed this roster (although JVG already seemed to know about it's problems) and will hopefully get us a starting caliber player on a rookie scale contract with this lost season, which wouldn't be the case if Monty or JVG/Thibs were coaching and the IQ of the team would be less of a problem.

Start fixing the roster, we can fix the coach in a year or 2 if that's still a problem with a revamped roster. Look at the Thunder. It doesn't matter that they were contenders a few years ago, what matters is where the team is when your Superstar has the leverage/option to leave. Wins and Losses this season and even next don't matter, getting the right pieces around AD for the 2019 season is what matters.

It will be interesting to see how many season ticket holders we lose. Last year my son and I caught the bug near the end of the season. We were pumped throughout the run to make the playoffs, and the Blender was electric those last few games. We bought two season tickets in all the excitement. Wife wasn't really interested. A couple days later the seat next to our 2 so I said "what the hell" and just scooped up the third seat. When the wife doesn't go my kid can bring a friend. Didn't really have the extra money to spend, just charged it. This season - and the outlook for the future - has just been so f'ing miserable.
No way I'm spending the money to renew for this product. If they turn it around next year I may hop on board again for the following year. Hate to be a fair weather fan, but for that kind of money I have certain expectations that must be met.
