Miami, Dallas and New Orleans will be at the forefront of the pursuit for Toronto’s Kyle Lowry once free-agent negotiations are permissible at 6 p.m. ET on Monday. Lowry is the top target for all three teams. The Heat would appear to have a recruiting advantage through Lowry’s close relationship with Miami star Jimmy Butler.

Seems like he thinks Miami will be at the top because of the Butler relationship. I think they can offer him 25 per flat out too.

Is Lowry really that good anymore?

Seems like the classic pay for past performance.

Not saying he sucks, but he's not a huge needle mover imo.

If he was, the Raptors wouldn't have been so terrible last year. I know Tampa, etc.

Yeah, I think the 2 factors that play into this are, will Miami offer him a third year? And if so, will he prioritize an extra ~5 mil per year over playing with Miami. Those are the only 2 things that we can really offer over Miami.

Do not want. Would rather just pay Lonzo. Lowry is not and never has been CP3.

He's a good player for sure.

but he is 35 going on 36, has had a lot of minor injuries over the years, and is going to obviously be in decline over the course of the contract.

They would be paying him more for intangibles, leadership, voice, toughness than what his stats would be. Which is...risky.

I know Stein is really plugged into Dallas, but I wonder why Fischer left Dallas off of the Lowry list yesterday when discussing possible landing spots for him.

I just don't see how those two teams aren't ahead of the Pelicans in this race. Which is fine because I'm very on the fence about giving Lowry a 3 year deal on big money.

This could still be okay for the Pels tbh, although I wish we would’ve taken a swing at Butler or Ayo at 35 for additional quality guard depth and then just taken Herb or another defensive minded player at 43 instead of trading it.

If the Mavs get Lowry, that means they probably can’t keep Tim Hardaway Jr.

If the Heat get Lowry, that means they probably can’t keep Duncan Robinson or Kendrick Nunn.

All 3 players would fit on our team and be moved up our target list if we don’t get Lowry. We also still have the option to Sign Lonzo or trade him for another guard.

Both teams are playoff teams where we are still seen as mostly potential. So unless we massively overpay, we sitting on the outside looking in.

Unfortunately they can sign Lowry for 25 mil while keeping the cap holds for Duncan and Nunn.

Yeah, which is really bad news for us if you are in on Lowry.

It means we must pay over 25 per. Probably by a decent margin.

He'd probably go to Miami over a million or 2 per year difference. 5 mill per year difference? That's a tougher call for him.

I'm guessing we need to prepare ourselves for the massive overpay.

That's really where the 3/90 we have been kicking around on here comes from.

Yep, 3 years and 5 mil per are the 2 factors to look at.

I just don't know what our play is if we miss out on Lowry and Dinwiddie.

It can't be to just to re-sign Lonzo and run it back with him and NAW as the starting backcourt.

Stein is reporting that the Jazz are going to offer Conley 3/75.

I think Conley is better than Lowry personally, so I would think that would be around the ceiling for Lowry, or should be.

For a favorable playoff caliber team... Sure. But if you put Conley in the same scenario, it would take a massive overpay to pry him away from Utah.

Lowry averaged 17/7 last year playing hurt.

They finally didnt make the playoffs because Lowry only played half the season.

17/7 would be a career year for Zo/Naw, etc.

Why is this board so dumb?
