In the grand scheme of things. We need to look at the future and make those decisions now.

Jrue, tyreke, Moore, Galloway, asik, hill, ajinca, and even Hield are all removable or tradeable assets.

Jrue may end up leaving but getting something for him is worth it if he's intent on leaving which he might.

Tyreke may want a lot, but the role he's playing is what suits him IMHO. I think we should retain him unless it's a package.

Hill's contract and potential do not match imho.

Moore Galloway and hield are all the same shooter, but the one with the most potential is Hield. But there might be a package worthwhile to get a guy like porter or oubre, I'll trade Hield. At least one should be traded and its honestly Moore. Galloway will stay here at a discount imho

Asik and ajinca have become useless if we can keep Dmo and for him to stay healthy.

The 3 guys I actually think we should keep are Dmo purely because how good he is when healthy, he also mixes with AD's skillset. Jones and Cunningham who are viable backup players. They're energy guys and get this team rolling.

Will we draft a player like these? Unknown? Will we have the opportunity to do so? I think the odds are high that in the next 2 years a 2 way SF that would be a huge upgrade for us will come out that's drafted on or after our pick. Just look at Brogdon this year.

And we could also draft a Jokic and Jae Crowder with our 2 seconds, but it is exceedingly unlikely that happens. Unfortunately the roster is constructed such that we need to hit a late lotto pick to get out of the .500 doldrums at best. Also we would need to be able to develop a that pick properly since Kawhi doesn't necessarily become the player he is today without the Spurs guidance.

I'm not saying I have a ton of faith in the current regime to do what needs to be done, I'm just looking for the path forward because even if you fire everybody, this should be the last year of the AD era where tanking is a regular topic. I just don't see even a new GM stripping it down to AD and Buddy and doing a ground up rebuild because if they're not even an above .500 team next year then you have to start wondering if $50 million extra is enough for AD.

$50M is more than AD has made in his career thus far. The Pels could also theoretically rengotiate that deal after 3 years (after '22 or '23 when he is 27 or 28) guranteeing 6 more years which could mean a good bit more than $50M. That is a LOT of money to leave on the table and foregoing the DPE introduces all sorts of risk for a guy who is frequently injured.

I think they need a new front office who will start thinking about how to best play AD and how best to build a team around him and be able to get ownership on board with their plan. Put together a comprehensive plan with direction and show AD progress towards those goals and he stays even if we are below .500 next year. At or just above .500 ball isn't going to keep AD here if the money won't.

ETA - I agree that the team is hamstrung by current deals/construction and thus needs to hit on a wing in the late lotto or get lucky with the lotto in order to really compete. However I do think a retooling of this team by a new GM and a new coaching staff gets us above .500 and into the playofs if that is your goal.

All the pieces surrounding ad are tradeable. Until there's a second potential superstar, they can all be had at the right cost.

Find me a legit sf like porter and I'm shipping away Hield in a heartbeat

I've read that the wizards are going to match any offer that porter gets but isn't that stupid to match a max contract for him. They would have all there money tied to three players and a Wall Beal and Porter combo is not winning any rings so I wonder if they would trade him for the right deal

The Porter decision for Washington is kind of similar to our decision with Jrue. You hate to tie up all that money in a non max player, but what other options do you really have? Especially if they end up being a 2nd round playoff team.

I guess if they have faith in Oubre they could move him but they'd wait until this summer and do a S&T. Can we really afford to pay Otto Porter Jr. $20-$26 and Hill $12?

Your right which is why I have no idea how the pels can make themselves better without trading Jrue and Tyreke and tanking.
