He'll get paid this year so no Withey looks cool so he'll be better next year.

Keep him. Can't have enough big men and he can occasionally shoot and make a mid range jumper while Asik can't

I thought this at first thinking we'd only have the minimum to give him, but we should have Early Bird Rights on him meaning we can give him roughly up to the MLE. Since we should have the exception to keep him I don't see why we'd get rid of him. We'd have to replace him with a minimum level big anyway so if that's the choice I'd keep Ajinca.

I think we can afford $3M for a 7'1 26 year-old. So yea, resign him for sure.

He's been our best center since he got here.

I agree. Like ATL said, we can resign him using early bird rights without negatively affecting our cap flexibility.

Should they spend ~$4M on a 4th big? If Asik is getting $10-$12M this summer, I'm not sure that's too wise.

Unless Ajinca keeps playing well, why wouldn't they just bring Withey back for the minimum to be the 4th big?

Because we aren't near the tax and Ajinca's cap hold should only be about $1.2 million. I agree we should move one of Ajinca or Withey though. At this point I'd think Withey would have more value still being on a rookie deal.

It's not about the tax. Why have a $4-5M 4th big?

Maybe Ajinca proves to be worth keeping around. But bringing him back around the MLE, by using Bird Rights, seems like it means moving Asik or Anderson to maximize $$

Maybe a new coach will change things, but I don't think we have much choice. Asik and Anderson were supposed to compliment each other and one's strength would hide the other's flaws. They are a -14.3 as a 2 man unit and both of their flaws seem to be magnified this year.

And I'm not suggesting paying him that much, we just have the ability to go that high which I pointed out because my first thought was we only had the minimum. You probably only need to go to about $2-$2.5 if there is any outside interest in him.
