Honestly could help us and be a major bench player for us. I could see him coming here.

They also changed the rules this year so teams above the first tax apron can't sign buyout players. That means most of the contenders can't suck up these guys like they used to.

Not to mention the Trajan Langdon connection. Dinwiddie practically had one foot out of the league when Langdon discovered him and gave him an opportunity.

Mavericks are also interested. LA is where he's from and the Mavs was when he had some of his best years. Seems like a uphill battle to get him.

Except Lakers are hard after him. Would love it if we signed him and lakers couldn’t get him.

How would we add Dinwiddie and stay under the tax? Seems impossible

We would have enough under the tax to sign Dinwiddie to a minimum deal and have about 400k left over to convert Matt when we have about 10-12 games left.

This news about being interested in Spence screams to me that we signed Karlo to a 2 way or plan on giving him a 2 way once Matt is converted

Another new rule this year are 2nd round exceptions which let you sign 2nd round players to contracts that don't count towards the cap. I can't find the tax implications of this yet. I'm assuming it doesn't count towards the tax if it doesn't count towards the cap.

So sign a buyout player to the minimum or convert Matt Ryan to a minimum
Sign Karlo to a 2nd round exception contract

Wasn't there a tweet out there that said Karlo signed yesterday? We just don't know what he signed to.

I know this team could really use another ball handler, but I am not a fan of signing Dinwiddie at any price. This just screams Dyson and Jose sitting as Dinwiddie and Naji get 20 minutes a night and cost us several winnable games.

A good reliable ball handling PG vet would be nice to go into the playoffs with. Team is still relatively inexperienced in the postseason.

I agree 100%. I just don't think Dinwiddie is that at all.

Thats how I feel. Especially in clutch situations when we look like a mess and desperately need a point guard.

How much is the buyout team on the hook for with him?

From some not very authoritative twitter account and nobody else corroborated it. If the 2nd round extension doesn't count towards the cap or tax, it probably is a done deal though.
