He's had opportunities to interview for other jobs recently and turned them down (don't remember the exact jobs). In the Dan Patrick interview he talked about wanting to raise his kids.

I think we will hold off to see what's happens with Thibs, and probably interview him. I don't see why we wouldn't, if the Chicago thing resolves within a couple weeks.

Agreed, no harm in doing due diligence and just exploring all options

Even if JVG is your guy you might be able to get "10% off" be it money or power demands by leveraging Thibs against him. Coaching AD will be legacy changing for JVG, so he wants the job really bad.

Aced/McNamara has a take on some possible assistant coaches on BSS. I hate when MM tries to act like an insider (he has been proven time and time again to simply be making that shite up completely), but I do like SOME of his basketball takes.

Its some good info on guys that JVG has had relationships with in the past.

Here's a link. LINK / The most interesting name is David Wesley. He was always spot on in his in game criticism of the team and could give JVG an insiders view without being a holdover from the previous coaching staff. I'd hate to lose him from the telecast though.

Iowa St. guy who could potentially follow Hoiberg. Should help with his anxiety issues already knowing the head coach.

So we might get Hoiberg?

Nobody said that. Just people speculating that the Pels and Bulls have Hoiberg high on their list. So that would make sense to put Royce White on their as well, right?

Why is Thibs being pushed out in Chicago and why would we want him here?

I'd be relatively happy with JVG as the next coach. Would seem like an upgrade over the last two, for sure.

Plus we might get to see see him jump on someones back again if a fight breaks out on court.......... So there is that.

They've been in a pissing match for about 2 years. Supposedly at the heart of it is the minutes issue, but the Chicago FO is also not the easiest to work with.

When DRose was healthy he had top 10ish offenses paired with top 3 defenses. Considering we were top 10 in offense without any complicated schemeing, I'd expect similar results with Thibs in NOLA. Keeping the offense where it is while making the defense go from 20 something to top 5 immediately elevates you from fighting for the 8 seed to fighting for a top 4 seed.

There are certainly negatives to be considered, and JVG seems like a better path to similar if not better results, but in theory Thibs would make the team instantly better. I'm fully on board the JVG Pain Train, but ending up with Thibs is a pretty good fall back option.

Chicago has a crazy front office apparently. Thibs is a defensive wizard, that's why anyone would want him.

Thanks for the answers guys. Things seem to be looking up for the Pels....

Hope they pull off one of these two hires.
