Rick Carlisle -- who led Dallas to the 2011 NBA championship -- informed Mavericks owner Mark Cuban today that he won't be returning as coach next season, Carlisle told ESPN. Carlisle had two years left on his contract. He spent 13 seasons as Mavericks coach.

This sounds like a retirement or sabbatical.

I assume Cuban would need to let him out of his contract to sign with another team, and why would he do that?

And Simmons was on his podcast the other day shitting on the Athletic report about everyone in that organization hating his buddy Haralabob.

They've now lost their extremely respected GM and HC in back to back days.

Could be a trade like Doc Rivers.

Man wtf is going on in Dallas? Offer him 10 year 250 mil right now. He’s an amazing coach.

Nah, his statement said he's excited about the next step in his coaching career.

Yeah I just read that. My god I would love Griffin again if he could pull this off.

Although...Blazers or Bucks makes a lot more sense for him you would think.

Why would Rick Carlisle want to be a coach under GM David Griffin?

It’s gonna be tough to get him with Portland and Boston having open slots. Even the Bucks potentially having an opening. But gotta try
