The sign & trade's you mentioned are basically Dell Demps & the Pelicans signing free agents. Both, Ryno and Tyreke, had to agree to the terms of the contract. Also, to make each contract stay under the teams' salary cap you may have to let go of replaceable pieces, such as; Gustavo Ayon, Greivis Vasquez, and Robin Lopez.

Your 3 posts here have probably taken 10 times more effort and words than all of mine

I just think most people aren't looking to replace Ryno's bad defense with Monroe's bad defense
You could argue that Milwaukee had those defensive problems because Jabari was playing a new position at PF. Greg’s game improved in a lot of areas, but he was asked to do too much on a team of players without positions. Jabari at PF was actually worse than Ryan Anderson last year.

Jabari: 66th ranked Rebounding Rate at PF, Value Added 119.5 Points, Estimated Wins Added 4.0
Ryno: 57th ranked rebounding PF, Value added 173.8 points, Estimated Wins Added 5.8 wins

What I know for sure, is that we ranked 24th in the league in Rebound Rate. That won’t get any better next season the way some of you morons want to go. Do you want QPon starting? he is one of the worst rebounding SFs in the league. So who do you want?
Bazemore 23rd at SF. Barnes 35th. Batum 25th at SF. Allen Crabbe 49th at SG, worse at SF. Courtney Lee and Evan Fournier BOTTOM 10 rebounders at SG.

I mentioned the Ryno S&T for Tobias, but doing it for Rudy Gay is more likely and also fine. Tobias is a top 10 rebounding SF, and Rudy is top 20. Both are Top 12 VA and EWA. Both WORLDS better than QPon.

Back to the meat of it. Let’s actually compare Greg Monroe and Omer Asik. I’d love to see some advanced defensive stats on them from someone that is killing Greg on here.

Monroe averaged 29.3 Minutes per game, Asik relegated to 17.3 Minutes per game.
Of starters playing 24 Minutes or more per game, Greg Monroe is the 14th rated rebounder at Center.

Turnover Ratio (low is good): Monroe: 8th 9.3, Asik: 61st 18.2
Estimated Wins Added: Monroe: 6th 13.0, Asik: 58th 0.2
Value Added: Monroe: 7th 389.2 Pts, Asik: 58th 7.4 Pts
Blocks Per Game: Monroe: 0.8, Asik: 0.3
Steals Per Game: Monroe: 0.9, Asik: 0.3
Assists Per Game: Monroe: 2.3, Asik: 0.4

So lets use our S&Ts and Picks to put together a best supporting trio for AD23 and Jrue, then compare their Estimated Wins Added….

My way: C: Monroe 13.0, SF: Harris 7.2 or Gay 5.9 (6.55 Avg), SG: EG 2.2
Total: 21.75 Estimated Wins Added, (50 Wins - 5 Seed in the Playoffs)

Your way: C: Asik 0.2, SF: Batum 6.3 or Bazemore 3.0 or Barnes 1.8 or Crabbe 1.8 (3.225 Avg), SG: Fournier 5.4 or EG 2.2 or Buddy Hield has a Devin Booker Rookie Year 1.6 (3.06 Avg)
Total: 6.485 Estimated Wins Added, (36 Wins - 9th in the West, 12th in the lottery)

Really, where is the Greg Monroe hate coming from on here? I'm not saying it is going to happen. I'm just tossing out possibilities.
At the trade deadline they wanted Jrue for Greg, and would NOT take Asik.
I'm saying they TAKE Asik this time, and take Hield not Jrue.... but, NO?

The numbers don't tell the story of how Monroe would fit into Gentry's system. You're talking about taking on a max contract 4 who doesn't fit an up tempo offense and who cannot spread the floor. So now you're looking at adding ANOTHER piece that doesn't fit, and we can suffer through 2 more years of Greg Monroe until the day we can finally dump him

The idea of the draft is to actually have a choice in bringing in a guy who could potentially fit this system. Not a plodding 4 who's range extends 5 ft from the basket and who still puts all the defensive burden on AD

This is nothing against Monroe, I think he's a decent player. He's not the guy we need

Greg Monroe played in 79 Games in 2015-16.
Of those 79, he Started 67 of them at the 5 with Jabari starting at the 4.
12 times, Miles Plumlee started, but Greg went on to finish the game with the most minutes at the 5.
Only once did Miles start and play more minutes than Greg.
Just two times, Greg started but John Henson came in to end up playing more minutes than Greg. One of those was an OT game where Henson played the entire OT.

Greg could be our 5.
He only moved to PF in Detroit in Drummond's second year, because DRUMMOND.
He's 25. This season his Offensive Rating was 113. His Defensive Rating was 106.
ORtg: Points Produced per 100 Possessions (Higher good)
DRtg: Points Allowed per 100 Possessions (Higher bad)

That puts him in the range of:
Dwight Howard (+7): ORtg 111 DRtg 104
Greg Monroe (+7): ORtg 113 DRtg 106
Karl Anthony Towns (+6): ORtg 112 DRtg 106
Pau Gasol (+6): ORtg 107 DRtg 101
(50 feet of crap)
Omer Asik (-2): ORtg 106 Drtg 108 TERRIBLE!

Greg doing it WITH JABARI PARKER!!!!! not AD23 + Tobias/Rudy + EG + Jrue
He's playing at the Lamarcus Aldridge level, BEFORE he joined the Spurs.
I want as many guys like that as I can get on my team. Meanwhile ya'll just think I'm....

I get what you're saying, but let's be real here. We aren't getting Gay or Harris. And we sure as hell aren't getting Greg Monroe. Are we talking about the same front office here? The one that has us in the current losing predicament that we're in now?

Its just not realistic. Especially getting more than one of these guys.

I'm fine with Hield or Dunn in reality. This is pretend land. I prefer resigning EG, no matter who we draft. Another unpopular opinion. He fits our system. But who do you add to help us at the 5? You a Festus guy?

Here are the ranges. See other post. Monroe is equal to or better than Asik at every aspect of defense.

Asik's Range:

Monroe's Range:

His RANGE is as good as Boogie's. (below)
He just wasn't drifting far outside of the paint with Jabari, Giannis, Middleton and MCW out there.

I WOULD GET THEM ALL! ME for GM! :) Trade Machine Champ of 2016.
Just passing time with the fun of possibility, before reality slaps us in the face again.

We aren't getting Gay

I think Gay is a possibility. We already know Sac offered Gay for Ryno, the question is how does Joerger feel about Gay. He was part of the advanced stats movement in Memphis that traded him away. If he doesn't want him either, I can see the Kings being interested in a S&T for Ryno to get Gay off the books.
