So, we got Rondo (FA), Cousins (early trade), Jackson (draft), Jrue (re-sign) and D. Miller (FA), as additions to this year's team.

What other free agent(s)/sensible trade would anyone like to occur, before the start of the season?

I knew Asik would be a point of focus in this thread, but we all know he ain't going nowhere without coughing up our 1st to get another team to bite... So unless someone has a trade where we basically lose to get rid of Asik, then let's focus on "realistic" options.

I don't understand why people are so adamantly against this. This is how I figure it. We should give up an unprotected 1st and Asik for literally any shooter that can contribute and reduces our cap number. If that contract is expiring, all the better, because we could find ourselves actually competing for legit talent with AD/DC on this roster.

If that 1 becomes a valuable pick, it means we fricked up so damn bad that we aren't going to recover any damn way. Boogie is gonna leave, and AD will be sure to follow. If we frick up that bad, who is going to give a damn about that first pick?

On the other hand, if this team is as competitive as we think they will be, and we can add a shooter, then that 1 is pretty useless anyway. Hell, give away two 1s, AD/Qpon and go get a legit player if someone is dumb enough to bite.

Memba when we said we were looking for shooters, but waived Omri Casspi to pick up Reggie Williams?

In one of the other threads it was speculated that they are trying to get Asik to go play in Turkey and then they could negotiate a buy out. (Fingers crossed)

If that doesn't happen or we can't trade him, I'd much rather stretch Omer. It was also talked about in another thread about the fall of the Knicks. Basically saying they made one bad trade and then tried to make up for it with other moves that made it worse. In our situation I think that could play out by trading a 1st rounder to make up for this abomination of a contract or trading Asik for a larger contract (like Allen Crabbe) which would be an overpaid player that someone is trying to get rid of and won't move us to the next level. We are in damage control with Asik and we cannot afford to make it worse.

I think that first rounder will be crucial when it comes time to make a play for a player that further moves the needle for this team.

But to answer the OPs question, it comes down to if we can shed any of our current contracts. We already have 15 players and zero cap space.

Jrue, Boogie, AD, Rondo, Solo, Crawford, Moore, Asik, Ajinca, QPon, Diallo, FJ, Quinn Cook, Darius Miller, Axel Toupane - that's 15 right there and I at least expect us to resign Dante Cunningham. It'll all come down to who can we get rid of

I just don't agree with constantly trading away 1st round picks. There is no cheaper way to add talent and value to your team. Even mid-1sts, that everybody says are useless. You can grab a young player, with upside for less than 2M a year. Or resign a guy like Ajincia for 5M a year. Which is the better deal? They are both bench players that are going to barely play..

I'd trade the first to shed Asik if we get someone who can contribute, but not just to get rid of him. If he goes, we can't use his money next year to sign anyone anyway, so why not just keep the pick and get a cheap guy we hope we can develop.

still one of the most frustrating and confusing moves. Casspi was back within 2-3 weeks IIRC.

I was not a fan of this unless they were going to be bringing in someone to push the team over the top.

What do you do when a team at the deadline is looking to trade a solid player that would really help the team but we do not have a 1st to offer for the player? We would not have gotten Cousins if we had pissed away the 2017 pick as well.

I would sign affalo(when possible) and hold on to the 18 pick until the deadline.

Wished the Pels would of went after Luc Mbah Moute, fits a need at the 3 and just realized he signed with Houston for the vet minimum.

That could have been a solid signing to finish the offseason...

Oh well, hope Dell has a plan like some have indicated... One more piece, SF shooter or a shooting stretch PF and let's see how it goes...

I can shoot 38-40% from 3, but I'd be a liability on defense.

How Do you get into the China league?

If Jimmer is worthy $1.8 million I reckon I could get at least a half million.

I did play college ball on scholarship, just never explored the international scene. I'm better now than I was in college.

Anyone know who to talk to about playing in China?
