#8 New Orleans 45-37
Something tells me the Pels will enjoy looking at the Power Rankings every Monday more than the standings. Anthony Davis and the leaps at both ends widely expected under new coach Alvin Gentry mean New Orleans is likely to spend lots of time in our top 10 even if it can't move up much from No. 8 in the West

Houston is underrated every single year. This year will be no different.

2012: Prediction was a lottery team. Result: 8th seed
2013: Prediction was 5th or 6th. Result: 4th seed
2014: Prediction was 5th, 6th, or 7th. "They got worse, everyone said". Result: 2nd seed

And once again, they are predicted to be about 5th in the West, even after a trip to the WCF last year.

how are you underrated when you perform like a treadmill team in the postseason every year?

Six seems just right to me

The year where no one predicted the Harden trade coming?

No real shot of winning the title but they'll make the playoffs and get promptly exposed by the legit contenders.

Yes, but even still... nobody predicted the playoffs.

Go back and read the thread on this site when the trade happened.

Many people thought OKC won the trade. Most people did not expect Harden to be a franchise player.

Then his first game with the Rockets he drops 40-something points.

That doesn't make sense.

They were one of the last 4 teams standing last season.

The Warriors and Rockets were the last 2 Western Conference teams left last season.

saying top 4 is being really kind to the east teams. in actuality HOU was the second best team in the league last year at season's end and they were missing 2 starters.

The past 3 years they have been 8th, 4th, and 2nd. They have gotten better each year.

Here is why they can be a top 3 team next season:

They vastly improved their biggest weakness and their weakest position. Yeah, Clippers added some depth, the Spurs added Aldridge, and the Thunder may be healthy this year... but in my opinion, Houston made the biggest improvement because they had the biggest improvement to make.

They had a huge, glaring weakness last year. James Harden was the only one who could facilitate. Nobody else could. With Lawson, they now have a second play-maker and it's going to make a world of difference. PG was also their weakest position last year. They had two 38 year olds playing PG in the playoffs this past season. Now their PGs are Lawson and Beverley. Big upgrade.

Those two glaring weaknesses are now strengths.

The Rockets got the second seed and made the WCF with some major weaknesses and several injuries. With those two weaknesses being more than taken care of, and assuming better health this year, Houston could very well have made the biggest improvement to their team as a whole, even if Aldridge was the biggest fish this offseason.

You don't actually believe that, because even the Rockets themselves don't believe that. You're just doing your thing. No one thinks the Rockets were the 2nd best team in the league last year. No one.

I wish you were capable of being an honest and objective poster. Deep down, you do know some things about basketball. But you have to stick with your schtick.

Its really disappointing. Try being a real person instead of sticking to your "persona". I bet in the long run you'll be a lot happier for it.

And for what its worth, I do think 6 is probably too low for the Rockets. They are a better team than that. Anywhere from 3-5 is reasonable given this year's roster, which I think is slightly better than last year's.

8 is about right for the Pels. Honestly, SLIGHTLY higher than I expected, but I always forget how terrible the East is. What a shitshow.

Leonard aside, the Spurs have to get old at some point, right? Aldridge isn't exactly young either. Nothing but respect for them, but I'm ready for that team to go away.

The West is stacked.
